BIOS not saving??
#1

Hi Guys,

I've just installed an extra DVD Writer (samsung 222A) to my PC, on rebooting after installation my BIOS window appeared with all settings back to default with time/date incorrect also?

I reset everything and everything was ok until I 'shutdown' last night and rebooted this morning - same thing BIOS appeared again !! On reset its ok but a reboot from shutdown makes it pop up again?? I had no probs before installing the DVDW so dont think its my CMOS battery (unless its a very unlikely coincidence) - any ideas ??

System;

P4 3GHZ HT Prescott
2GB PC3200
BFG 7800GS OC AGP
Asus P4S800 MoBo
2 x HDD
1 x LG DVDW (set to Master)
1 x Samsung DVDW (set to Slave)
NO Floppy and this is disabled in BIOS
WINXP Pro SP3

Mate, id unplugged the new drive and reboot the computer to check the BIOS without it to start, just to be sure (process of elimination Smile ).

I dont think ive ever heard of a new drive resetting the bios to be honest.

Is your new DVD writer slaved to another drive or is it set as a primary?

Its slaved guys - boot up was ok this morning??

Will keep an eye on it but appears to be resolved today, only thing I did different was to remove the new Writer from the POST list (it wasnt first BTW) as a bootup device in BIOS? Now only my HDD is listed!

Thanks for input,

HAPPY NEW YEAR
