way to lock framerates to improve stutters?
#1

in fsx there is a setting to 'lock' framerates not to exceed a certain fps...improving stutters so the game isn't always maxed out. in IL2 i get a constant 60fps but on some maps (like berlin and cannon's channel map) i get stutters that fluctuate from 60 down to like 55 and back up. is there a way to lock the frame rates in IL2 to something lower, like say 30 or 40, to remove the stutters?

you can try turning your V-sync on which will lock the FPS to whatever your refresh rate is on your monitor.

most turn this off because they prefer 100+ fps to 60

not really possible, IL-2 cant be locked to a constant framerate

lot of 3d objects in your field of view will cause inevitable drop in your framerates even with the best hardware

fluctuation only between 50 and 60 is pretty good imho

my framerates drop down sometimes even to 30 with lot of stuff going on....

Is there a definitive answer to having V-sync "on" or "Off"?

I have tried both and although you get high frame rates looking at low object scenery with V-sync "Off", they still come back down when you look at high detail.
In addition, can you really see the difference between the locked V-sync "on" FPS of maybe 60FPS (standard monitor) and 100fps with V-sync "Off"?

Could one of the experts enlighten us on which is best to use with a system that still suffers from low FPS now and again on some of the new maps?

Many thanks in advance chaps.

In my opinion. The best way to keep FPS high when flying those demanding campains mentioned is to decrease the resulution.
I fly those campain

see its not the frame rates i'm really worried about. i don't mind if they drop from 60 down to 30 over berlin....i just dont want them to fluctuate 10fps because the stutters are extremely noticeable (happens about once every 5 seconds). i'll try that vsync method out. thanks for all the input.
