Are you unwittingly comparing the two versions of Canon's map? The final is vastly different from the beta. I did some work on the final map for HSFX, but that was only sorting out water/land height anomalies along the coast and tidying up the cliffs afterward. No new airfields or objects added at all.

D,
I don't think so. I zoomed in on the area around Northholt, the following are differences: AAA map is grass, HSFX has concrete runways and more buildings, grass is flat, Now, it may be I made a mistake in my adding the AAA maps and missed some data, I have no way of knowing. My HSFX version is 4.1.
Thank you for replynig
Jack
I noticed the same thing: finally I have my English Channels maps included in HSFX 4.1 (all the problems others had with installing Canon's map disencouraged me) and indeed, some airfields are just flat green but not textured.
I remember to have read about it a few times but can't remember what the solution was.
I don't have the AAA install anymore, but both versions of Canon's map (beta and final) have concrete runways in HSFX, the latter using plates it looks like. I'm not sure why you would have grass runways in the AAA install unless Canon updated something sometime after you installed it. Both versions in HSFX are Canon's with no alterations, other than those to the final mentioned above.

OK, thanks. I will revisit my AAA install. I like the HSFX maps but would prefer detailed grass; is this possible?
Jack
Most of the grass fields in the AAA version of the maps did not have detailed grass- I remember asking about it at the time the map was released. Cannon told me that it was a compromise that he made in order to have the map run with acceptable frame rates.
A few of the grass fields, such as Hawking, have textured grass.
Just a thought; Is it possible that some of the fields have grass surfaces on the early war version of the map and concrete on the later war version? It would make sense, as some bases were improved to allow heavy bombers to take off and land.
I have screen shots, JPEG, of the difference. How do I upload?
Thx.

You guys are comparing apples and oranges. Not only are the two maps different with regards to objects, the HSFX/UP final version is also larger.
Cannon spent many long months researching and adding in all kinds of object data. It is by far one of my favorite maps.
If you really want to know the differences between the two, go to Cannon's site. I believe that there is a listing of the changes.

Mr. Jinxx,
thank you. never knew(I'm new to AAA) that his site existed.

Thank you sir. Can I use this with HSFX? How?
Jack S.
It is installed just like any other mod :
Not sure about HSFX, but if it works the same way than UP 2.0, you just have to install it inside MODS folder, (add the entries in your maps/all.ini) & activate MODS folder by deleting the "-" symbol before it.
Detailled instructions are in the readme file.
There wasn't time to include these in HSFX 4.1, but they will be there in future versions. In the meantime, see FlyZo's post on adding maps to HSFX, or simply drop them into the files/maps folder. Both ways work, it depends on your personal preference.
