Sound Mod in stock IL2-1946
#1

Hi chaps,

I've got a question - I read in a interview from Oleg some time ago, that the stock IL2-Installation was/is already modable for sounds. Now, how do I proceed to change to stock sounds (engine, guns, effect etc.) in a clean and patched IL2-1946 installation (4.09m)? Is there a way to do this without any enabler, switcher or whatever?

I've got a separate installation with Ultrapack 2.0 - but I'd like to change the sounds in my stock installation too, if possible. The modded sounds are beautiful and when flying in stock IL2-1946 the stock sounds really suck (sorry Oleg!).

Thanks for your help.

I think you may be mistaken about what Oleg was saying. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, one of the first mod activators made here was called "English Sound Mod", and all it did was put cockpits to most of the AI-only planes, and add new sounds:

AFAIK, there is no way to change the sounds without a mod activator, except for playing around with whatever files you can find in the samples folder. All the presets and engine sound samples are locked into the .SFS files.
