Lt C Abbot F-86 from the movie "The Hunters"
#1

A while ago someone asked for a skin from the movie "The Hunters". At the time, the Sabre was still, and in some sense remains, a Work In Progess for the little things. Well, I finally managed to get a copy of the movie and watched it over and over paying attention to the acft up close whenever possible. I decided to do Lt C Abbott's Acft, 15413, mostly because I couldn't get a real clear look at the other acft with art on them and his was clean.

Of note is the Fuselage Stripe. You will note that it seems to be painted around the stencils instead of the stencils painted over the stripe. It got me to thinking and I came to the logical conclusion of why. When the F-86s were built, they came out of the factory already stenciled. Since not all Sabres had this fuselage stripe, it would make sense for the boys in the field, in order to save themselves some work, to mask out the stencils and basically paint "around" them. Also, I found an example of this in the movie.

Anyway, I hope you like it. Please use it as you see fit or ignore it; it's entirely up to you.

Just right click on the last picture and Save As, then change the extension from .JPG to .BMP and you should be set.

Post it somewhere, please!

I did as you say, but it did not show up - the file's size was different.

Same here, did not show in QMB. Followed instructions and changed file extension to BMP. Any ideas.

Okay,
Some folks were having problems getting the pic extension change to work. This happens sometimes. So I placed a download link in the first post.
