MOD TUITION
#1

Guys, need help with Mods. I'm in the stone age where all this modding is concerned, skins no problems, but mods.... What do I need to do first to be able to download game and aircraft mods?
If someone could explain in 3 lettered words I would be very appreciative, many thanks

1 if you have 4.08 and 4.09 patches your good.
2. try going for the Ultra pack or HSFX pack. i recomend the HSFX pack

But to downlload mods on your own taste you need the AC installer, Wrapper, updated versions of the buttons file on certain aircraft. Mod activaator and sound mod

Thats all i remember i just got the HSFX pack and i havn't done the mod downloads one by one in a long time

Even though I personally prefer Ultra Pack 2.0 (It includes and option to turn on HSFX 4.1 if that is more your taste, cant go wrong) I do still remember how to install individual.

You will need a 4.08 or 4.09 install and the SAS buttons. Once you have that, you can d/l aircraft and other mods. You will have a new "MODS" folder in your Il2 directory. Inside that there is a folder called "STD". In this you will find your air.ini., weapons.ru, and aircraft.ru files. You will have to search around the STD folder a bit to find these. When the instructions for a new plane mention what you have to type in these files, that is where they are. The rest should be explained in the individual aircraft readme's.

Hope this helps, Happy Landings!

The JSGME mod enabler comes with UP 2.0. You can turn on the mods you want, or turn off the ones you dont, or run vanilla 4.09! HSFX 4.1 is an option within JSGME to be turned on or off as you see fit. To be perfectly honest, I don't know about adding custom effects since I have not tried. There are sever effects options within JSGME to be turned on or off as you see fit.

You can add Mods via the Mods folder, but I'm not sure how effects that might conflict would work. I use, for instance, Wolfighters gore and canopy damage mods and they work just fine. Adding planes is likewise a piece of cake.

sweet! I was loath to mess up my sweet running UP install with more planes (Wellington, new Ki-100, merlin engine Warhawks) it's good to know if I do I wont be killing my install!
