Looks very fine!

Is it compatible with campaigns built with earlier versions? ("He asked anxiously, being the designer of the campaign 'Darwin Defenders'".)

Excellent!
Will the map be the same size as your first? It would make it simpler to transpose the current missions I've built on the first map to this one if it was.
Even if not I look forward to getting this one.

Thanx for the replies Wink

Sadly I dont think that campaigns and missions created using previous versions will work without some tweaking. Airfields have been moved, a new road/rail network has been placed and the coastline is different.

The size of the map will be increased north to south. East-west will remain as is.

Cest la vie.

On the plus side I will get to recreate the missions I had made and with the added knowledge I have gained (yes, I usually learn something new every time I make a mission) I will have a blast remaking, and undoubtedly improving, the old missions.

Thanks for taking the time to improve on your previous perfection.

So, ummm, any chance you might have another map or two up your sleeve?

Any changes to the static.ini of a map makes it incompatible with a previous version. This is because when damage is applied, the game cannot process the code in the .mis file that applies to moved or removed objects.

I think you might be better off calling this new version "Darwin_big" and leaving the original as is, Neil. The original "small" version will then be ideal for online co-ops etc.

Just caught up to this thread, looks really good Neil. I thought I could see that you'd updated the area around Darwin in the first shot. I can see I've a bit of work to do in order to update my DCG campaign to suit the new map Wink.
Hopefully it ends up in all the various mod pack flavours as well. It certainly deserves being part of a community wide mapset.

Hiya M8 Smile

ATM, I'm still plodding along whenever I get the time. In a few weeks I'll have a bit more time, and hopefully be able to complete the map.

That's good news. Looking forward to flying it when you're done and revamping the DCG campaign to suit the new map.
