Just wanted to ask you this -
I cant get it to run on perfect graphics settings.
In Setup its asking you to select either OpenGL or Direct X
I selected Dirext X, with maximum settings.
However in game, you cannot use the perfect graphics setting for Direct X
OpenGL has that option.. (but i cant use open GL, the minute i select it it slows everything down)
do you know the cure ?

What graphics card are you using? Open GL is what the game prefers to run on. Also check your reslolution in the setup in the game IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder. I'm running that on 1152x864 32 bit Use stencile buffer. On my config.ini I have my stettings as this...

VideoSetupId=17
Water=4
Effects=1
ForceShaders1x=0
PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.15
PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0

The graphics card I use is a sapphire radeon with 256MB memory ( a rather old one, i admit)
and I also have an Acer laptop that came with an intel graphics card (obviously not the best one for Il-2)

my conf.ini was like this:

PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.0625
PolygonOffsetUnits=-1.0
Water=1
Effects=1

I changed it to "water=4" like your's.
Until i get a better PC im stuck with that..

Whats one of the best graphics cards out there for il-2 .. from your experience.. ?
(preferably an Nvidia, because i want to try something other then ATI this time)

The nvidia 9800 is what I'd like to have but the 9400 I have now is good.Try water on 2, you may not get the white caps but it shouldnt slow you down.

Thanks fellas, I think I have it now, but I don't have a folder called water. And yes I will create one, but what is the correct path to have this folder in ? Do I take them out of your Tarawa folder, then go to land, summer, then create the folder in there ? Which part of the Tex folder should I have it in guy's ? :-?

Sorry for the delay in answering your question, real life has been a pain lately. Make a folder in the _tex folder named water then you can take the texture out of my tarawa folder and place it in the water folder then in your load.in at the bottom where it wil say water2= make the entry read like this...

water2= water/Shallows6a_Fields_A.tga
Unless your texture has my BA_ in front of it then make it BA_Shallows_fields_A.tga

Let me know if this works.

I am absolutely astonished... piece of art. Seen the video on youtube then I HAD to investigate to find out who made this.... that water rules. Bravo!!!!

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this..

Apart from all the conf.ini entries they put up, it is very important you also have: Hardwareshaders=1

Without that, water will look standard no matter what value you put.

@ AIRdomination, Your right no one has mentioned that. I think becuse in some installs you just have to have a graphics card that can run water on 4 and settings at perfect.
