Ground-launched X-4 guided rockets....
#1

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am on the brink!

In the incredibly minimal spare time I have these days for IL-2, mission building is one of the few precious things I do. However, it was only recently, with the addition of certain aircraft like the MiG-15 and MiG-17, L-5, F-51, working, firing infantry, etc... that my most recent plans have come to fruition. You see, should I manage to get what I have in mind working, I will at once begin work on a new campaign. Worry not, though it is set in 1963, it still showcases WW2 prop driven aircraft, for this campaign is not based on the 'official' records of the United States or United Kingdom.

However, first thing's first - I have been trying for the better part of a week now to find out how to get Heinkel Lerches to launch their X-4 guided rockets from the ground to simulate SAMs. What I would love to see is a brainstorm of the community to find out how we could make this a reality. The Lerche provides a wonderful platform, and we now see just how well rifle-firing ground infantry work in game (very well!) My hope is that we either find a way to do this using the FMB, or, if someone is really ambitious, create a SAM launcher to use in the artillery menu that would have an INCREDIBLY slow rate of fire (1 - 2 SAMs per salvo, 10 - 15 minute breaks in between salvos?). I feel like this would be a giant step forward for the community, and as the AI already knows how to use the X-4, we have a viable tool to work with.

Let come the criticism! I can take it!
