Adding missions for offline play
#1

Hello all,
I have a fully functional IL2 with HSFX fully updated to 4.11 patch. After much tinkering, I think I have the graphics and system running well. I would like to add some missions that I have seen over at m4t. What is the procedure for doing this with HSFX?

It needs to spelled out in stages, as I have some difficulty with my ability focus in fine concentration issues since diagnosed with PTSS. The grey matter must be shrinking

Could some also explain what the Co=op missions are, are they online, offline, or networked?

Thanks, Jeff

It's the same in HSFX as it has always been since stock.

1) be sure HSFX has all the required mods for the mission, if any.

2) (Optional) Find out what country the mission is for

3) Go to Missions/Single. The folders have two-letter names. Each represents a country. (Ex DE = Germany, RU = Russia, US = United States, GB = Great Britain, JA = Japan, SK = Slovakia, etc.) Open the folder for the country you wish to add the mission. Use NN (None) if you aren't sure.

4) Create a folder inside the two-letter folder and call it whatever you want. Or, just open an existing folder inside the two-letter folder.

5) Place both the .mis and .properties inside the folder which itself is inside the two letter name folder

So, place the files at level root/Missions/Single/NN/new folder

In game, use the 'Single' button and then navigate to your new mission.

Co-ops are meant for multiplayer situations. You could play one over your home network, in that case you don't need an internet connection.
You could play one over the internet. In that case you either need a friend whose IP number is known or accessible to you. Connect via the in- game main menu by clicking "multiplayer" and then either create or join a server.

These missions can be played by a single player as well, using the multiplayer menu by setting up a server, co-op type.
Depending on how the mission was built, it will run in a logical way even if you're the only human pilot.
The quickest way to join co-ops or dogfights without dependency of friends is a thing called "hyperlobby".

The other thing is the directory structure for missions: they are divided in 5 types; quick, single, campaign, online(coop), online(dogfight).

Of these, only co-op and dogfight are for multiplayer (online) play.

Most campaigns have (or should have imho) a read- me document that explains how to install. Smile

Thank you both Booga and Java. Your explanations are good and clear.
I will give it a go and hopefully the next time I say something here it will be all good news Big Grin

Cheers, jeff
