My MkVc template isnt finished but I am planning on some US Spits after my annual ANZAC day pack, So I will add Alexanders other machines to the list (I was planning on doing his Shark mouthed ones anyway)
And his Mustang as theres a photo of it in 'Spitfires and Yellow tail Mustangs' and the profile shown on page 1

Heres a quick pic of one of his MkVs

I'm finding this topic both interesting, and confusing. I suppose it might be interesting me because it's confusing me!
Stony's uncle served with the Eagle Squadron, and it seems, stayed on with them after they became the 4th Fighter Group. Looks that way from the combat report.
Yet that Spitfire that's being modeled is an airplane of the 52nd Fighter Groups' 2nd Fighter Sqaudron. They flew in North Africa and later, in Italy.
His uncle could not have ben in both places at the same time. Could these be two different guys with the same name?!
Highly unlikely, I know.
Stoney, can you no longer ask your uncle? Has he passed on? We're losing these guys so quickly, I know.

By the looks he first served in the Eagle Squadron then stayed when it became the 4th FG, he then was transferred to Africa with the 52nd FG.
I think he got confused as to which unit he was with when shot down, there was only one 'Dixie' Alexander.

Very nice Travis.

For anyone interested in the Eagle Sqns try reading James 'King of the Strafers' Goodsons Tumult in the Clouds (ISBN 978-0-141-04286-2)

He flew with the RAF prior to the US entering the war and forming the 4th A/F.

The book jumps about a bit but is a very good read
