Does anyone remember how to create an "exception" for the FF2? I have lost this information. I vaguely remember that there was something you had to do on MSCONFIG. Without it I cannot program the MSFF2.
Thanks
Here:
Microsoft FFB2 Software fix.
This will re-enable the button mapping feature (recorder) of the V4.x software.
quote:
For those who use a Microsoft Sidewinder FFB2 on AMD64bit with XP Service Pack2.
Enhanced Virus Protection EVP build into the AMD64bit CPU, which is activated by Win XP SP2, causes problem with Recorder Panel of Microsoft Sidewinder 2.
To solve the problem:
log in as Admin
go to "Control Panel" > "System"
select "Advanced" >"Performance" > "Settings"
seclect "Data Execution Prevention"
select "Turn on DEP for all programs....exept those I select".
Click on "Add", then browse to c:\windows\system32 then in the File name text box type: joy which will show a unlisted file called joy.cpl
select the file joy.cpl after which you are taken back to the DEP Dialog Box
"Game Controllers Contol Panel Applet" will appear with a check mark in front of it
Click Apply
Restart Computer
Now you can open the panel Recorder and assign Macros to Buttons.
This Problem will only happen with systems of AMD 64bit under WinXP SP2
This is awesome. The last bit of my secondary "Pit" has come together. Thanks for your quick and accurate reply Goblin. Just a note... See my PC specs. Both my PC's are Intel Processors. One has the 3.3 Duo and the one in question has a 3.0 Duo. Both needed this "exception" for the MSFFB2. Without it, the joy works perfectly but cannot be programed. At last I am able to program all the buttons.
Is this sticky worthy?
Thanks Again Goblin.
 Np maico, glad to help you.. sorry bt I don't know about this intel behaviour as I've AMD processor.
About Stiky: I think It's admin power about this, for me It's ok to have it sticky
