Hi Im just wondering if anybody is thinking of or making any Australian planes or Coast line etc for Il-2. Basicly anything related to Australia.

Thanks.

There is a mod Darwin map out there which covers the extreme north of Australia. Other significant maps would be Singapore, New Guinea, Solomon islands and Coral Sea which are all nearby and in the stock game.

As for planes, Aussies used mostly US and British aircraft. This includes Buffaloes, Airacobras, Kittyhawks, Catalinas, Liberators, Mosquitos, Bostons, Dakotas, Hurricanes, Hudsons, Battles, Mustangs, Spitfires, and Vengeances. The only RAAF aircraft in game is the Beaufighter Mk.21 which is just a license built Mk.X. The only significant native aircraft design would be the Commonwealth Boomerang, designed in record time as a stopgap in case the Brits weren't able to deliver Spitfires:

Personally, I believe this and the Vengeance should be added to our game. All the others involve replacing skins/markings only.

I like to see a MOD of the Aussie made CA-15 Kangaroo only one Build as WWII ended and the jet age had started.
For its Time it was the fastest single propeller Fighter in the World

RAF662 have the Boomerang ready to go AFAIk, and are just waiting on word as to when they'll release it, think something about it and the Whirlwing being added offically.

As for the Beaufort, well no one has taken that on as a project as of yet Sad

I rather see a Beaufort more than a Kangaroo. The Kangaroo was too late by the time it was developed - the jet age had arrived which made it obsolete. Althought very fast and a good design clearly jets had more life thats why it wasn't put into service. Actually it does look like a MB5. Now The Beaufort was used in the war by the RAAF. Too many planes are getting requested to be made that didn't see service in WW2 a few fair enough but now it is one after another. Boomerang, Beaufort was more important to Australia's war effort lets have them first if we can have something. The same goes for German stuff - Dornier Do 217 I rather see than some design that didn't do anything or see service. Who want s Star Wars in a WW2 sim? Same goes for Korean War - want aircraft that saw service in Korea not some UFO design.
