Seen in the "Loop5" shopping mall, Darmstadt, Germany.
They wanted to let everybody know how close they are to the "Rhein-Main Airport" (FRA), so they hooked up a MiG-21, an
old cold warrior to the ceiling, filled the walls with AC photo posters and had a local group of aviation historians/enthusiasts
display two replicas (Ryan X-23 & Fokker Dr-I).
Watching the MiG-21 gave me somewhat the creeps; I'm old enough to have had experienced the fears and chills of the
"cold war", where those MiG's were the face of the enemy (at least for us aviation enthusiast kids).
Seeing this proud warrior hanging from the ceiling of a shopping mall, dressed up and polished, felt somewhat disgraceful...
They've been our menace for so long and now they end up as "clowns". If you ask me, that's not appropriate.
