This is a great idea. Historical indeed so far as foo fighters are concerned.
For the game it could be done by having globes of lights or something similarly indistinct fly across the skies at a relatively high speed so they can never really be sighted up close visually. That would eliminate the need for any detailed 3D work on a foo fighter. A globe would be sufficient as long as some type of game mechanism prevents the pilot from getting into visual range of these ufo's ...
