GIMP Weathering tutorial
#1

Well, the title explains it pretty well.

Does anyone out there have a tutorial on Weathering skins on GIMP.
I have watched the ones on YouTube for photoshop.

It is much the same you might say, but i learn better from a downloaded PDF or the like

So.... does anyone have one?

Thanks Kiwibird

there are a few good tutorials on youtube. they are IL-2 specific which is nice....not just on weathering but the entire process from Void to skin.

Check out the tutorials on simmers paint shop, even the ones for Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. They all work pretty much the same way as GIMP.[/url]

Well for the weather/water/dust effect:

First, make a new layer on top of the structure, choose the area you want to weather and mark it with a path.

Take the confetti tool and make it pretty big. Like 2x size or so.

You need 3 different colours: Blue or light blue, orange/brown mix and white.

Paint the leading edges of the wings and make some slide towards the trailing edge too, but keep the big mass at the leading edge.

Then use the filter "Gaussian Blur" once, twice or as many times as you need to make the colour solid, yet very textured.

Then modify the transparency of the weathering layer until it looks realistic.

Sorry if someone thinks I think I know everything and no one else knows nothing, but I always make my tutorials "for dummies" so everyone will understand them. I don't direct them to the requester.
