In a real life A6M5b, where is the arresting hook control located?
I'm not talking about IL2, but real life.
Trying to build a sim and would like to simulate the control.
Most things in the IL-2 cockpit are animated, so if you look around the cockpit as you raise and lower the hook, you might see some switch or lever moving.

If your's is going to look anything like that it is going to be awesome.
That's why I was concerned about device link working with SOW. Apparently it will. I sure hope so. :-)
The A6m's had the arrestor hook release lever next to the flaps and undercarriage levers on the rear right hand side of the cockpit practically under the pilots right elbow. I read a report somewhere that I can't find now that these levers were set close together and were easy to confuse. I think the arrester lever had a button release much like a car hand brake lever while the undercarriage and flap levers had simple knobs. There was also the seat height adjuster lever next to all these! If I can find the pilot report I'll post it-very interesting reading!
In the cockpit diagrams of the Zero I have places the arrestor control as a wind down handle on the starboard side of the cockpit, just below the canopy frame.
It's situated just above the radio control box.. The lever low down on the right side of the pilots seat with the button on it is the 'seat adjust' lever.
The two levers with the knobs on are the gear and flap levers, the front one being the gear I believe.
Unfortunately, looking at the cockpit in game is no real help as its so poorly modelled, even the canopy locking catch on the top left of the cockpit framing is ommited..
If I understand you correctly, that is the actual 'hook release'?.. The winder must be to wind the hook back up into its stowage position.. again, the exact function of these controls is a little sketchy in all the info I have to hand.
