Are you entering the IP address of YOUR router, and not the one in the example?
Yes, I'm entering the IP of My router, but I also tried the one in the example and that don't work either.
Try this:
Start...Run...cmd...
and enter ipconfig into command window.
What is address for Default Gateway?
Ok, I tried putting the Default Gateway address in my address bar but it still don't work :???:
Also, I have the Arris TM502G not the Arris TM502b, could this have something to do with the problem?
Shouldn't matter about router make or model, as long as you have correct IP of the router.
Where are you getting this IP address from...it should be in the manual or documentation with the router.
Some routers can be fussy about admin access, and require wired connection on port 1, so you could try that if you haven't already.
Maybe your software firewall/antivirus is blocking LAN traffic.
I just tried turning the firewall of and that don't work either.
I got my IP from ipconfig/all
How do I do a wired connection on port 1?
I had the same problem too. It turned out I just had a crap router. I returned it and bought another more expensive one and then it worked...
If the intent is to host, (only reason to forward a port) then why not try it before spending money?
See if someone can connect to your server. Maybe the modem is all you need.
I have tried to host, the people always get time out massage, I was told I have to forward port to fix that.
