yes.. when you are shot down in occupied europe, you switch to 'escape and evade' mode, (see Olegs interview from 2008), it will then take 4 to 6 weeks of solid play to get back to your own airfield again.

Good day, everyone

Again, some of this week's comments are hilarious.

Being objective, I actually see forward progress in a number of areas. I enjoy seeing the increased details in all the basics. The tree trunks, bark, and leaves are fantastic! The terrain is further randomized like real life-where appropriate. The buildings actually sink into the ground of slopes naturally the way that they should, not like IL-2. The amount of detail in the aeroplane seems to be only typical Maddox Team IL-2 work in the pictures, but allow me to open our minds to the broader picture beyond these screen captures.

Studios have the ability to decrease details that are displayed, very much like how we IL-2 users can decrease graphics features if we choose, say for the sake of performance-but besides my point. The real point from me is that Turul's computer is purposely being used with its lower settings to intentionally conceal the true level of quality that was created in the studio. This is reasonable and standard practice during the developmental stage of games and simulations. It is a proprietary tactic to prevent competitors from reacting with a direct, countering technique of rendering details for themselves.

Look at how the land textures are obviously set at low quality graphics settings, much the way an IL-2 user could if he decided. This is done by decreasing land details quality in IL-2 Hardware Setup, decreasing graphics card settings, and by lowering settings of the texture commands in the confi.ini file of IL-2. Of course, the same can be done with the Storm of War studio working version which is under development.

We are like the spectators at a sports event and not privy to the details that will be revealed in the game by those insiders such as coaches and team captains, figuratively speaking. I can guarantee that the true level of detail and quality which the Maddox Team created in the studio is deliberately being withheld for the above good reasons.

Thank you, Turul.

The level of detail for ground objects is about what is expected of any sim these days. Remember, IL2 represents 2001 graphics technology. SOW will have to represent 2011 standards.

I'm also guessing that the loving detail of ground objects and weather means that add-ons to SOW might have the ability to realistically model ground and sea combat. Obviously, other sims do that now, but they don't do it with accurate physics.

I have to say I'm EXTREMELY focused towards lighting, because you can do so much and hide so much, but so far all of the lighting is extremely satisfactory, especially the trees, they look fantastic even on the ground. I have to congratulate the SOW team, they have been doing a fantastic job with all of the graphics so far. I think I've finally graduated from modding San Andreas, maybe I'll try some basic flight engine tweaks, and hopefully be useful for this someday. Big Grin
