Bell X-1?

Hey has anyone considered making a Bell X-1 that you could drop from a B-29? Seems like it's feasible based on the other rocket planes and droppable aircraft in the game and it would certainly make a neat addition

Parasite planes are so kool! Great idea!

We'd need a B-36 for that.

I don't know if you understand this but the Bell X-1 was a supersonic research aircraft in the LATE 1940s,no armament, just lots of avionics and research modules.Oh and bright orange.
It's arsenal of research equipment.

Sure but that doesn't make it any less interesting. Besides, the C-47 doesn't have any weapons but people made flight models and cockpits for it.

Planes take of from the ground and fly into the sky. the Bell X-1 was dropped from a B-29 So I just think its just a rocket with a man in it just like this guy.

The Miles M.52 was to take off from the ground with its own power.
Sorry I am with tater718 I'd rather be in Sopwith Camel in a dog fight over on mans land then flying in a straight line with a Bell X-1.

Cute but utterly pointless. Research aircraft aren't sent into combat. Bizarre isn't it? Ever since MSFS was dropped there's an increasing move to turn IL2 into a generic flight sim. But that's an old argument already and I've hoisted my colours. If you were creating a mod based on a prototype that conceivably might have seen active service because (a) It actually worked (b) there were plans to produce it in quantity regardless of commonsense © It makes an interesting 'what if' scenario, then Im all for for it. But the Bell X-1 and the Miles M52 had only one purpose - to attempt to break the sound barrier - which takes it outside the remit of this game before you even consider where they'd find the room to fit military gear and turn it into a practical warplane.

If you insist on doing such things, then show some realism. If was possible to adapt these designs for active service there would be a redesign in any case, and quite possibly significant visual differences. There's nothing wrong with 'what-if's' at all. But please give it some credibility.

Okay, I'm done.
