The images really are exciting!

Tom,

Can you tell us specifically what your computer system is that produced these images? What exactly is your graphics card?

Thanks, guys! Big Grin

The Hawaii map is the default one in my HSFX4.11 install.

To Fireskull:
I use an Ati 5770 GFX (1152X864) under Windows XP 32 bit. I have an AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core. Still stupid enough to not use dual channel and run one 2Gig and one 1 Gig DDR2 (sigh) RAM. Most people told me under Windows XP 32 identically 4 Gigs would be far better, like 2X2.
I maxed the settings in my CCC (disabled Catalyst AI and V-Sync, also use "Box" filter for Antialiasing) and used settings I read here for my config.ini, mostly your tips and tips from another forum. I can post my conf.ini settings, of course.
Ah and I don't use Tripple buffering in my CCC.

Video:
Mipmap filter: Anisotropic
Texture compression: None
All other boxes marked except "Use Palette" and "Texture Compress ARB Extension".

For campaigns with a lot of action I would probably lower my resolution, for single missions the FPS seem very nice.

I enabled some special effects mods in my "jsgme" setup.

I installed with the 10.4 driver, thus I had to do some fixing in order to get around corruptions. 10.5 fixed some issues but brought others in this install, so a logical next step would be to install the Ati 10.6 driver to test it in another install of IL-2 HSFX4.1 or-4.11.

Hope that was useful.

Sorry for the late reply, hard week at testing.

Thanks for the kind words..

Tom,

Every graphics aspect of your images is fabulous! Added to that, you have great color and choose viewing angles very well. I like the metal and water shine the most.

Thanks for showing what is possible with IL-2! Big Grin

P.S. The skins look great, too: What skins are they? Is it a skin pack?

Thanks, FIreskull!

The skins..IIRC, some of them are a skinpack from F-22-Raptor-2006 and Peter D./Lieuwe , the rest is from my Histomod installation. DGS 2009 seems to be the creator of the Histomod skins.
I don't know exactly where I downloaded the skins other than Histomod ones, but it could only have been from this site or the SAS site IIRC.

If this doesn't break any ownership- or forum rules, I could upload my skin folders.
But I have another tool in my IL-1946 utilities+backup folder:
F-86 Skin Pack V2. I could upload this one, it was an official download, it contains all the popular skins like the Skyblazers, RAF Sabres, Blue Diamonds, Blue Impulse etc.
Unfortunaltely, I lost overview on some of the sources for my downloadeds.

Ah, found it:

Skins downloads should be placed by the skin modder in the IL2 Skins & Textures Download forum. Fireskull

If F-22-Raptor-2006 is okey with that, I could upload this utility.
I don't like uploading other peoples work without their permission. (But the credit is always visible on the
BMP templates for the skins.) I enjoy them too much to pee off the artists.
Anyway, registering at SAS is not a false move Big Grin ..This one and the SAS site are my favourite IL-2 ones, Histomod is great as well, albeit I may have pissed the gents there off with my nerd FM request..Hope not, very nice people.

The good thing is that skins can be copied to other F-86 versions by either creating new F-86 folders under
X:\Programs\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\PaintSchemes\Skins or by inserting skins into existing folders.

I should learn to write shorter posts.

Cheers

Good day, Tom

Actually, your intuition is correct. Downloads and also things with no permission should not be placed in this Screenshots, Images & Video forum. I did not intend for you to break the rules. Smile

The skins that you used in these screenshots were from the skin packs and authors that you mentioned, so that is on topic.

Thank you for the info. Big Grin
