I've been running v4.08 mods enabled and recently - mistakenly - downloaded and installed Patch v4.09.

The program appears to start with the % of the program building to 100% but then the screen returns to my usual desktop view.

I think that the answer is to uninstall the Patch but I cannot find how to do this - any offers of help please?

I also think that there is a Patch to bring v4.08 mods enabled to v4.09 version - can this be confirmed please?

You aren't supposed to install 4.09 over 4.08 modded, and unfortunately I don't think there is any way to uninstall it, short of deleting your whole Il2 install.

What I would recommend is that you delete your install, and start again with a clean install. Patch it up to to v4.09, and then install the HSFX modpack, which will give you a lot of planes and full v4.09 compatibility. If you had any aircraft skins you liked you may want to copy your whole skins folder somewhere else and then merge it with your new skins folder.

Well just 1 question: you just added the 409m patch WITHOUT upgrading your mod activator? I guess that's your problem.

So, YES you *can* add 409m to a previously modded game, but you have also to upgrade your mod activator

Before erasing the whole install, first try this: http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,1010.0.html

If after trying to save your install, and still doesn't work, then and ONLY then erase your install.

But yeah, once 4.10 gets released I would recommend getting a pack and then just recover those mods of your old install that are not already included, much simpler and better for the future.

1. Backup your existing install.

2. Try overwriting your existing installation with 4.08m --unmodded. -- Try and start the game.
That should overwrite the problem files. --- remove the Mods folder and wrapper.dll to a safe backup.

The problem files are likely to be files.sfs and il2fb.exe

3. If it works install 4.09m - Team Diadalos logo on start up screen. - unmodded.

Thanks for your suggestions although I found the install locked up at 95% when I tried re-installing Patch 4.08.

I've re-installed 1946 and Patched to v 4.09.

When I originally changed v4.08 to v4.08 MOD, I found it very simple (probably just as well!).

Can I update v 4.09 to a MOD version just as simply?

Is it just a question of installing the HSFX Mod patch?

Yes. HSFX is intended to be installed over a clean v4.09m - Team Diadalos version
