I quite agree. Fortunately, as i'm an offliner, I don't need to worry about this! But I can see how it's a real issue

One standardized 'locked' version for online play only would be the way forward, then we wouldn't have the compatibility problems.

It could be included in the Unified pack, with an exe to change between the online and offline version
