I was wondering if anyone has any experience with using a separate throttle device with Il-2?
My joystick has a nice sliding throttle, but if you fly with the right hand on the joystick, you have to reach over the keyboard with the left hand to adjust the throttle, which i very inconvenient -especially when dogfighting. Nor can you very well release your right hand from the joystick either ...
So an independent throttle came to mind ...
If anyone has any experience with one or any advice to offer on models or anything related ... I'm all ears and eager to pick up some good advice ...

I have:
CH Fighter Stick USB
CH Pro Throttle USB
CH Pro Pedals USB
I have all three controllers selected as one joystick but with 8 axis as far as stick movement. I have each controller mapped as a separate device for the buttons so that I can assign all of the buttons (34 is max number of buttons allowed per device) on the Fighter Stick and the Pro Throttle and not exceeding the maximum allowed per device. I use TrackIr so my 8-way hats are used as 8 buttons instead of a POV switch.
I have the CH Pro Throttle mapped as slider 0 (Power) and I have the throttle wheel on my CH Fighter Stick mapped as slider 1 (prop pitch).

I built my own and interfaced it to the computer with a BU0836. IE, any controller can be used to be a throttle. :-)

I can recommend Black Widow by Speed Link (see Google).

It has Stick for the right hand, and throttle for left hand together with rudder.
Satisfied for more than 2 yrs, in dogfight without any icons, using NewView pgm for hat.
Laziness is the mother of progress. My QMB missions can be found here:
