ATI Catalyst 10.5 driver, Image Fixes!
#1

Good day,

ATI promises that the IL-2 issues have been fixed regarding the graphics image defects in late model drivers while using IL-2. This is found in the Catalyst 10.5 which has been very recently released.

Instructions before downloading the Catalyst 10.5:

1) Always a good habit to scan the download for malware. Right click on the folder and the window will have the option to scan the download for malware. It only takes a few seconds and eliminates the risk that you have been sent a fake, malware laiden copy by a fake website or URL redirecting malware in your computer.

2) Test the download for corruption of files.

Let us know if this Catalyst 10.5 fixes your problems. Here is the link to the post for the Catalyst:

With the 10.5 drivers I can use perfect mode at last. I have a 5770 card and there is no blocky text and the water looks great.

I have a brand new xfx ATI 4870 card that I purchase some months ago and had all kinds of issues installing this card and running my game. I pulled this card and went back to my 9600GT. Just wondering if anyone has this card running and what drivers are you using and what setting? Thanks TC

If you are happy now, congrats!

But, with a little effort you could have googled for issues about ATi/Il2
And you would have found solutions for problems wich not really are problems...

There are hundreds of posts (AAA, Ubisoft, 1C publishing) concerning issues with people complaining about this or that..
And SOLUTIONS are given all the time by dedicated ATi users (PF Coastie, Urufu Sinjuru and others like Fireskull)

One example is the blocky text issue since Cat9.9 or higher. Very quickly one was offered this solution: get early atioglxx.dll and put them in your IL2 folder and voila...issue gone!
Use this solution and the game runs flawlessly, assuming you set the game up for use with ATi !!

As a reward, you will get a prettier picture compared to the other brand.

As far as I am concerned, I get EVERY ATi card to work PERFECTLY with Il2 (I happen to build rigs for living), highest possible settings with 50+ FPS at least in almost every situation.

I am talking about the whole series, from 3800 to 5800 (the 3870 still is an astonishing performer)

Hope this helps you to retry the ATi 4870 you have..

Greetings, Naz

The atioglxx.dll didnt work for me. The FPS in menus and intro movie were extremely slow (1-3 FPS).I have read about others that had the same problem.
Maybe I just didnt "set the game up for use with ATi" correctly, anyway I gave up and waited for new drivers to fix it. With 10.5 it finally works.

10.5 does seem to fix the blocky text, but after first mission or so, it seems to lose Vsync. Anyone else geting this? I went back to using the Cat 9.10 atioglxx.dll which works very well for me.

Very annoying without Vsync due to frame tearing.

All drivers should be scanned for malware, tested for corrupt files, and installed with a truely good InterNet connection. The graphics Control Panel might not make settings stick without making a Program Profile for IL-2 in the Control Panel. Further, the Profile in the Control Panel for IL-2 might need an executable file, in this case it is il2fb.exe.

Same card as mine - any chance of taking a peek at your conf.ini file?
