[Map] cztx_BurmaLower V2.1
#1

cztx_BurmaLower map version 2.1 is now ready for download here:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/lmnyunmnt ... erV2.1.zip

This is the final version. No changes were made to V2.1 which is found in the WIP Maps Forum. If you already have that then there is no need to download this one.

Installation:

unzip the downloaded file and put the folder named "cztx_BurmaLower" into your Maps folder found in this sequence:
IL2 1946/Mods/Mapmods/Maps/....

add the following line to your Load.ini file:
cztx_BurmaLower cztx_BurmaLower/load.ini

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A very special thanks goes to Fabianfred who got this map started.

Version 2.1 improvements:
1. A more dry look with Agracier's textures. Most combat in Burma took place during non-monsoon periods which were very dry and dusty with desert-like conditions.
2. Use of new textures. Inspired from ideas from MrOblongo.
3. Corrected errors in roads/railroads.
4. Added Delvpier's Mods Bridges to almost all river crossings (except where ferries used).
5. Smoothed rivers to have a more natural look.
6. Eliminated the burmafield/rice paddies texture and replaced with a dry scrub brush texture.
7. Improved ed_maps for better in-flight geographical navigation references.
8. Added a couple new airfields and changed some airfields waypoints for some others.
9. More buildings populated in cities/villages.
10. Eliminated surf on beaches.
11. Included an extra Map_T file as an option. One has more jungle area south of Rangoon, around Bassein, Akyab area, and Ramree area. The option: "Map_T_Dry" does not have these jungle areas but has dry/desert looking textures instead.

(if you don't have the UP2.0 or HSFX then you might need to install KevinP's Road/Rail plates MOD. This MOD has the curved railroad tracks and I experimented some in this map with them).

Toungoo Airfield - Just wanted to add a new pic showing the new Ki-44 MOD - it was used in Burma and air defense of Rangoon.

In your latest campaign I can't load mission three. The map and missions load one and two - so I can't see it being the map? But everything loads in mission 3 right to the millisecond you'd be in the aircraft but the plane explodes as if something in the map is in contact with the plane as it "appears." Can you help? DW

Ummm, are you speaking of the Battle for Arakan version 2 campaign?
That's the last one I uploaded. I had no problems with it on this map since I just tested it this past week.

Are you speaking of a different campaign? which one?
Which airfield? Perhaps there is an object in the way if it's a different campaign.
If I knew where to look then I could check it.

Yes your correct Arakan. Post was done on the run for work. Apart from the map is there any other mod requirement perhaps? Mission one and two are fine - then boom when the plane loads - like its touching something? Thank you. DW

PS I downloaded it from your website - bit puzzled what gone wrong. Have unistalled/ reloaded twice - all ok to mission 3.

This sounds very strange but it must be a campaign issue. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'll have a look at it later tonight and report back on here tomorrow.

I have HSFX 4.11 and there is a cztx_BurmaLower in the map mods folder. Is the map that was included in HSFX 4.1 and HSFX 4.11 the same as v2.1 that you have listed here?

DoktorWho, I looked at the campaign missions last night and found nothing wrong on my system. I'm using the UI 1.11 so unless there is a conflict with the invisible runway plates for UP or HSFX...I have no idea what it is.

Did you download this last version of the map?
I think I changed that particular airfield is the last version. If you are using an earlier map version then there might be conflict.
Also, you can load the mission if the Full Mission Builder and see if there is any object in the way causing destruction.
Mission #10 and #11 are also on the same airfield so you might want to see if you have problem with those too.

hello MAILMAN. I'm not really sure which version HSFX has but it's probably the old version which is no good.
The WIP v2.1 was made available April 2010 if I remember correctly. Anything before that is old.

One easy way to know if you have the last version (v2.1) is to look and see if there is ...
...no surf on the beaches.
...a new airfield at Lampang (eastern side of map).
YOu can also look at the screenshot on this page and compare. This screenshot shows new ground texture for the Mingaladon airfield, plus new ground textures around Rangoon.
Hope this helps.

I highly recommend to everyone to get this v2.1 because there have been changes, especially to some airfields which will cause conflict in missions.
All previous map versions were a WIP and that's why I never put them on this MAPS Download Forum.
However, last year the guys at UP and HSFX asked to include the map (old version) with their packages so I agreed to that.

I hope this last version 2.1 will be included in their next package

No, this does not replace the IL2 stock Burma map.
This BurmaLower map covers the area further to the south but not the area around Imphal on the stock IL2 Burma map.
