Flashes in all smoke

Flashes in all smoke:

Hi I don't know if this was covered b4, I get flashes in anything that has smoke. At first I thought it was part of the effect, for instance during engine start ups or during an explosion (secondary detonations...which look cool) But I am starting to see them in the clouds on a nice day, so its not lighting, This anomaly looks like lightning in all examples. I am at the moment running UP2.1 and HSFX4.11 on the switcher. However this anomaly was present was present in HSFX b4 I Dl'd UP2.

Any thoughts?

Hi

I´ve readed something like this somewhere and the solution was to change in the conf.ini file the value effects=2 to effects=1 or 0. If this doesn´t work I can´t help you, sorry Smile

Hi,

For nVidia, Effects= in the conf.ini file can go 0 through 3.

I'll be watching to see if this is software related or not. I will move this topic if needed.

Hi,


Change to the following: ( I assume that you are using OpenGL )

TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=0
(Return to =1 if you see strange land anomalies)

TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0 ( You don't need =1 )
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=0 ( This doesn't work with your configuraion )

After you have tried my suggestions in the previous post, then go to my "Tweaking - Conf.ini file" Section of my Tech Topic.

Look for the conf.ini area that is named "Absolute Highest Image Quality Conf.ini Conguration".

Make a backup of your current conf.ini file. Look at my conf.ini file configuration for the best image quality that is possible with IL-2.

If you have a powerful graphics card, then you can safely use my settings.


Let us know how it goes.



I moved this topic to the PC Tech Help Forum, at least temporarily, until we know how to fix your smoke flickering.

Thanx FireSkull that was the problem (config.ini settings)

There is also a reflection on the water, it looks like the reflection of a pole off in the horizon, I was going to include this in the last post but forgot to mention it. I had hoped that the settings you provided would handle it, but its still there. Any ideas?

I have never heard of that one! :roll: How odd to have the reflection of something in the water that does not seem to exist.

Could that reflection have something to do with the sun behind it? Is there anything else behind or near the reflection when you see it? Is it there all the time or only in certain conditions? What condition is it?

You might want to post your new conf.ini file.

Hi, went to Kansas, Styx and Foreigner tonight at DTE (PinKnob) I will post a screen shot of it sometime tomorrow. This anomaly has been there for quite sometime, it shows over water only. The config.ini is the same as the one I posted earlier except for the changes you suggested.

Go to photobucket.com or imageshack.com and upload your image to the website after you created an account. You can edit the images with their tools, too, such as resizing.

After you get the image in place, you will need to click on it to get the largest view of it. With that comes several image transfer options in a window on the same webpage. You choose to copy and paste the Img code version into the text box of your reply here at All Aircraft Simulations. You might want to experiment a while with different features to learn about it.

The reflection is so weird. I have never seen, heard, or read about that particular anomaly. I'm stuck on this one. :roll:

I will see if I can find help for you. I know many guys who are experienced with IL-2 graphics issues.
