Exporting .msh files to GMAX
#1

Like the title says, I want to take some existing meshes and edit them, but I'm not having any luck with the buggy exporter. Does anyone have a list of needed steps for doing this?

Never mind, got the exporter working. Now to figure out how to turn 3ds back into .msh...........oh fun.

So far, I have made the desired changes to the mesh but GMAX only offers the option of saving as a .GMAX file, and I'm pretty sure I need to have it in .3ds format so I can run it back through the buggy exporter. Help needed......

SAS didn't really help, they gave me a lecture instead and Wolfighter said that it would only work for 3ds Max so I had to experiment. And I added 1 step to the guide lol. Big Grin

They were a bit impatient, true, but then, to point you to the right "lecture" is no help? You would be stuck right now without that lecture.

Wolfighter does not say "it only works for 3ds", it says eow_jones just needs to import to 3dmax (as that is what he has as software) with any further hassle.

So which step you added? This is Wolfighter's help:

EDIT I took this out as I took it out in the above post as well.

So "SAS didn't help"? ... I agree they/we are not very friendly with you, and you're right, but still, they help from time to time even if rudely.

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to annoy you, but just want to help you notice, your posts are not putting you in a position of getting as much help as you would otherwise get.

Don't worry, I won't point it in the future. I am done with your attitude and I am truly sorry for the off-topic.

My very deep & sincere apologizes to AAS for this ugly post, but couldn't help myself given the ungratefullness of some people. I usually don't post that much and always try to do it positively, so please mates, bear with me on this one.

Verhängnis,

I missed what you posted before it was taken down. Was it about importing from Il2 to GMAX or exporting from GMAX to Il2? I am still having problems getting my edited meshes back from GMAX to Il2, so if you have a procedure for this could you PM me.

Thanks

Like you said in Topic Title, you want to open the meshes in gmax and I posted the link to the solution above.

To put them back into IL-2 you will need this.
