Koenigsberg Cathedral and Castle
#1

Can anybody help me to find the object similar to Koenigsberg Cathedral and Castle, see here:

I do not dare to hope anybody will create the similar object for Il2.
EDIT:
Now I have found 3D model of the Cathedral, but still do not know how to transform it into Il2.
Here is the link:

This cathedral is very badly made, it has far too many polygons & would need quite a bit of work to sort it out.

Thank you for your post. Just a question : is it possible to import object drawn in Google SketchUp into Il2 in principle, pls?

Yes it can be done, but only with Sketchup Professional, not with the free version. Don't ask me how to do it because I have no idea.

To view your cathedral I downloaded the COLLADA file from the site you provided. Then I went through a complicated series of conversions to to change it into a .3ds file which I Imported into Gmax.

If you want the .3ds or Gmax file I can send either of them to you.

The cathedral appears to be the correct size for use in IL-2. Read my tutorial called "Airfield plates for beginners" to get the basic idea of importing objects into IL-2.

You are very kind, I should like to receive Gmax file. If I may ask, I prefer this format, since it is free, and I am not professional graphics maker so I have not 3Ds buyed.
Now I have the Koenigsberg map populated with more than 470 bridges, above 26 airfields and am finishing the railway stations with some std german buildings. Then I shall try to build ports, and then, I shall try to learn how to import the Cathedral.

Nice. A Koenigsberg map in the works? Very cool. I always wondered why that city was left out of the Kurland map. Perhaps now we will be able to re-create that great struggle for that city.

You can see the progression of this map on Aviaskins.com.
Mixx is working on a new map also; his version of Khalkhyn Gol, Mongolia. Looks very promising! Big Grin

I'll check it out Lejo. The stock KhalkinGol map airfields seemed a little strange with their green grass runways plastered on to dry brown land. I guess that was a limitation at the time of making that map. Good to see improvements being made.

Yes, that made things much easier to read. That new Khalkin Gol map looks really nice with new textures...and even has new objects. They are really doing a fine job with it. It will surely be a must-have to replace the older outdated one.
