Bye bye all.....I'll miss you ..and the sim
#1

I have ordained as a Buddhist monk here in Thailand...for an indefinate period. I can no longer play games but still have internet use and will occasionally pop in to see what is happening.
I'll miss the sim and any new mods, maps and stuff...like SOW...but life goes on.
Thanks for all the fun over the past few years since AAA was formed.

So are you are allowed to play games?, or can't take IL-2 with you and all your Flying gear?

"While other religious and political leaders around the world are busy creating moral panics around violent video games, it appears that one Buddhist leader feels quite differently about them. The third ranking Buddhist, Ogyen Trinley Dorje (and, according to the article, the only Buddhist leader recognized by China, Tibet and India), apparently sees video games as therapeutic and a way to let out aggression"

Wow! That's a big commitment ff. I can only wish you the best in life, and say thanks for all you've added to IL-2.

That is quite a big step, good luck! I hope you enjoy it, as it is a big decision to make in life.
I can remember all of your posts with amazing pictures from your experiences in the country, so clearly the experience has been illuminating? Wink

May I ask, why are you not allowed to play games? 8)

Reading novels, watching movies, playing games etc. are forbidden since they distract us from the real task of meditation. They would disturb our meditation by creating lots to think about, when the main aim is to stop all those superflous thoughts and see reality.
if I ever return to lay life I shall be able to continue where I left off.... the future is uncertain.

Thanks for your kind words and hope you continue to improve and enjoy a great sim.

Well sorry to here that but it is what you want.

You could just make yourself uber frustrated and then your master might prescribe Video games to calm you down, read my above post. Smile

Can you choose to return to 'normal' life (if that is a good way to call it...) any time you wish? It must be a big step to make; I mean I use reading books as a way to calm me down or to make me feel peaceful. Certianly here I am at a different enf of the spectrum regarding their use. I really respect your decision. Good luck. 8)

Buddhist monks in the Theravada tradition can ordain and dirsrobe several times. It is not a life-time commitment, although it can be if you wish.
Not being able to listen to music will be a bit of a blow, but I have plenty to keep myself busy as I hope to start translating some very good books from Thai into English.

love you all..... have fun.
