IMHO a well trimmed Gladiator would quite easily turn inside it

F-86. At least when I'm not blacking out doing it.
I agree that the I-153 is a good plane to use for on the deck.

I-153 is pretty squirrely for me and a tad slow, I-16 just right for a combination of speed and maneuverability

You are meant to fly away to higher altitude, turn around and then dive down on the fighters.

And the thread is about maneuverability, not the tactics/right way to fly something.

MC-200 Saetta

Decent all around fighter, fair punch on the weapons and can out-maneuver an I-16 even though it's a bit faster in the level speed, not to mention it can take some punishment and still fly.

Or a Ki-27 Nate

This one in the field of aerobatics and maneuvrability is really hard to beat to my knowledge, it's pretty reliable on the engine and can do negative G maneuvers without the engine choking, it can even out-maneuver sevral bi-planes such as the I-153, the Gladiator or the CR-42 Falco without problems.

And believe me, it takes serious bad luck to go for stalls and spins, or an incredibly incompetent pilot, but the weapons and gunsights could be better IMHO.

I-15 or 16 and all non-stock jets. Oh and the Clipped Wing Was made for low altitude so that too.

EDIT: Bf-109 B-E all good because they pull up half a meter off the ground every time.
