hi.

im curious about this fps issue..

il2 runs great 98.9% of the time
but at times my fps go down in places and the gameplay gets choppy. for example on this one map i play online theres places were airfields are on fire. lots of smoke columns and fire dispersed around the field. when i get near it the game gets pretty choppy. i know thats cpu intensive but other players tell me how they have no problem at all and there running a near exact system as me.

my specs are

core 2 duo e8400 3.0ghz
2 GB of RAM
ASUS p5ql pro motherboard
EVGA geforce 9800 GTX+ 512 MB



im running UP with hsfx 4.1 running most of the time. as well as lite clouds and perfect landscape textures.

any help on this?

I used to have a very similar configuration as you, but I had 4gb of ram. I did not have any stutters, other than seeing 128 planes in the air. I suggest that you upgrade your ram. If you have a 32 bit OS, that means only about 3.2GB will be recognized by OS.

yes iv been thinking about getting just 4GB. i think that will solve most of my problems. thanks

oh btw how do i figure out what kind of ram i need.?

Crucial.com worked for me.
They'll be able to tell you what type and how much.

+ if you're 64 bit OS Win 7 will be using a fair chunk of your 2Gb (vista probably more so).

I'm running dual boot Win7/32bit XP as my TIR 2 isn't supported for 64 bit os drivers and don't really notice the 0.8 gb difference when in XP.

Go with the 4Gb

well i mean im not shure what kind i need like what size. when i built my computer i used the ram from my old machine. but it just happend to work and fit. but i dont know what size it is so i cant use it as a reference.

Weirdly only 1GB works fine for me. Even with Airfields on fire. But then with 100+ planes in the air the fps rate drops to perhaps -2 per second

Your system uses DDR2 1066. (max 16gb RAM)

If you're running XP/Vista/Win 7 x32bit
I'd put in 8gb and setup 4gb as a RAM drive. Run the system swap file from the RAM Drive.

If you're running x64 bit, just install the RAM and then set up a static swap file that is 2x the amount of RAM in the system.
