re the new Canvas Knights
#1

Mr ''D'',
I have a number of questions reguarding C.K. and the new game engine....

please do not misread my intent for these questions......

1....will the graphics, and game engine be as pleaseing to the eye and as easy on the computor as the original il-2 engine?

2.....will it support 15 to 20 players online in co-op missions ?...

3.....will it be possible to have a dedicated server running the game...i have this with a number of il-2 theatres of operation....ie..a dedicated derver for each conflict such asa a b.o.b. server...a Korean war server ect?...

4.... will you release it as first intended with a small number of aircraft for each side and then have subsequent updates for new aircraft as they are made or will you make a number of aircaft first and release them as a package?.......

5.....i am well aware of your intent to release it as a one time price and then any additional aircraft ect will be supplied on a nocharge basis....

at present i am considering this sim for my squadron....and it will hopefully meet the exspectations we have for it...... i think a download to try it out befor purchase is a very good idea.....
it will then sink or swim on its own merit

Hi PD, here are your answer.

1....will the graphics, and game engine be as pleaseing to the eye and as easy on the computor as the original il-2 engine?

Yes they will.

2.....will it support 15 to 20 players online in co-op missions ?...

It support 24 players now and the game developer will raise it to 64.

3.....will it be possible to have a dedicated server running the game...i have this with a number of il-2 theatres of operation....ie..a dedicated derver for each conflict such asa a b.o.b. server...a Korean war server ect?...

Yes, I have one running now.

4.... will you release it as first intended with a small number of aircraft for each side and then have subsequent updates for new aircraft as they are made or will you make a number of aircaft first and release them as a package?.......

It will be released with 10 planes each side and many other user operated game peace's and 2 maps.

5.....i am well aware of your intent to release it as a one time price and then any additional aircraft ect will be supplied on a nocharge basis....

Like I said in the other thread, am pushing for free expiation packs, but that is still in talks with the game developer.

the feeling at my squadron is if #5 criteria is not met ...there will be resistence to us flying this sim.....
we do realize free enteprise is in the hand of whatever direction the devs wish to take....

So we are back to square one so to speak..

Ref Point no5, may I say that paying for things is a normality in life.
I have no problem whatsoever in paying for a decent product or indeed any followup versions.

If we don't pay, how do we expect persons/firms do come up with the goods?

Good Luck DM, keep this thing moving so we can all fly it soon
#5

then we simply make the choice of what sim we wish to fly.....

So let me get this straight......you will be charging $40 US, for what is essentially (judging by the screenshots) an updated version of RB3D? Flat terrain, grainy cockpits and cheesy pilot figurines. And we waited how long for this?

Flat terrains, grainy cockpits, cheesy figurines,oh your to funny you must not have looked in the background of some of the pictures, and as for cockpits I have no idea what cockpit you seen but what I see is pretty nice as for pilots we are in early stages but I see nothing wrong with it and as for this is what you were waiting on no that went away when no one wanted to help so this is a brand new project and no game designer is going to give you something for free.

A nice effort...and long awaited. Lots of good work by the team.

But...

It's sad, but you missed the boat when Rise of Flight sailed over a year ago
...and a $40 Price Tag?

Good luck

This is a new project after all other options failed so it might be late to be announced with other projects but you allways save the best for last.

Not everyone can afford to fly Rise of Flight or BOB (when it comes out.) ROF is choppy as hell on my pc - dual core & 8800 gtx g/card.

Current finances means I can't & refuse to upgrade, so, IL2 & Canvas Nights is more than welcome for those like me on a medium to low budget.

The only flying ROF will do is out my window & BOB won,t even make it to my desk

So, CK will be an Oasis in the middle of the desert for many of us

You will forgive me . . . but I am baffled.

This site for some time is dedicated to free add-on mods for IL-2-- but now is a commercial site for a different payware item?

Why not just link to another domain where the payware item is offered? I'm sure even FlyZo who did so much to try and build this site might be upset as to the compromised purpose you gave it.

Do you think you can sell ice to Eskimos? (apollogees to Eskimos, BTW) :OO

Never been a fan whose water looks more like cellophane, but never know-- good luck with your independent venture.

I think you are making a mistake that will end up in disappointment for all concerned.

But, not to pee in your ale or wotnot, have at it and God's Speed

Cheers

Who ever said the download for the game was going to be at this site?
It is going to be a link from here to the developers site, the only things
That will be here for downloads is going to be the free user made skins
And missions and all info like the help and so on.
And as for this site being a IL2 site, don't you still see all the IL2 forums here?
And I will add as many combat or other sims to this site as I please to
So long as the communities of them sims wish to have some forums here.

No intent to hijack thread...but you should know that i have the same 8800 GTX (768MB version), dual core, 4Gb Ram, 3 yr old Vista system...and RoF runs absolutely smoothly with marvelous graphics.. I suggest you play around with your RoF setup selections, etc.

I do agree that CK would seem to fill a need for folks with truly old/limited systems.

I really hope you'll rework the placeholder-looking textures.

Them textures are being done by a IL2 artiest that has been revered
At this site and others for his works, and if your not happy with them
Cnopicillin there is a void of each for you to paint your own.
