Oh yeah about that I was ment to post it HERE before DM made it into the General WW1 Info thread :|

As look I said:
Planemad Wrote:Germany Soldiers with 7.92 spandau or mg 0815 (Sorry not sure Sad)

And RAF209_Benge said:
RAF209_Benge Wrote:ITs an MG 08/1915...

So I siad thank you, but on the wrong thread - look at the times - My Post (Quoted above) 08 Nov 2010, 20:19
Benge's post (Quoted Above) 08 Nov 2010 20:31
Then my post on this thread saying "Cheers Benge" - 08 Nov 2010, 20:37 I was meant to post it on General WW1 but posted it on this one instead

Yeah I know its a little confusing but hopefully you should understand.

Have to say, that i have not looked at CK news or anything for a long time, and the screen shots i see now since the il2 engine was abandoned (as i understand) are way below what was originally planned.

I was very exited at the intial il2 engine phase at the screen shots but looking at the new shots i have to say i have totally lost interest.

It looks like the sort of sim that was released in early 1995 or something similar, why was the il2 engine dropped? oleg putting his oar in maybe?

Not knocking the hard work being put into this at all, just registering my surprise at how the expectation levels have dropped.

Hi iremember, these shots in this thread are of the early
Planes that where done a long time ago, but what I find funny
Is the planes in these photos are the same that where in the IL2
Screen shots and every one thought then they where just great...
But have a look at what is the standed for CK now...

That looks way better! maybe it was the familiar IL2 landscapes in the backgrounds that gave it the impression that the aircraft looked different?

That could be phrased this way

Who is DM, planemad?

Who is plane mad, DM?

Is DM plane mad?

or is DM just JM an thus just quite right Smile

I see. What we have here then is a possible multiple personality syndrome linked to an aviation obsession, reinforced by inability to deal with the real world and instead resorts to an abstracted episodic or mission based conceptual world view, encouraged by outsiders who do not understand the deep suffering of those with deep rooted envy of birds and heroes of former conflicts?

Sounds familiar Big Grin

Serious point though. Looking at the screenies it looks great except... Erm... Well to my eyes the enviroment is not so good. I mean this as helpful criticism, but the clouds look false. There's no depth or detail to them, no layering, nor any impression that they're water vapour building toward a rainfall somewhere. Clouds are fascinating and deeply important for a realistic enviromental effect. Unless you happen to be flying in combat, whern staring at the lovely textures and colours will probably get get you shot down. Oh well...

I Have bought VSF and i can say that you can make clouds look almost whatever you like. They are as real as they can get. Better than IL2 IMO. And MSFS X. It uses Dirext X instead of openGL, so it looks a bit noisy...That a directX graphics feature.
VSF engine has even weather forecats possibility. You can alter weather while playing.
I'm sure that CK is even better than VSF.
VSF is a SANDBOX tool with some nice game elements. CK is a complitely new game that uses VSF engine with andvance graphics.
I was a bit cynical when i heard that DM is not using IL2. But now i think that it seems to be a good decision.
Plus one thing more: DM is not working for a big Company, like IC. Or Ubisoft, this is the first combat sim that Quslity Simulations is making.
DM is also doing it because I know he loves WW1 aviation.
Constructive critism is a good thing, it helps to make game better. But judging whole game after seeing few screenshots...
I'm sure that CK will be a pretty good game.
IL2 is by a mile best combat sim and that's it. But let's give some other makers possibility to show they own versions. I'm sure that there is room for many new sims or games.
And VSF is pretty cheap (27€ incl. VAT). Cheaper than most of the PC Games out there...
You can also buy it and try to make own planes. It is fun and maybe helps to understand the difficulties about making decent combat sim from scratch...Besides you can test the clouds with the demo.
BTW. Those new WW1 models for IL2 are beautifull too. I have DL:ed them all and i enjoy flying with them. But i'm also waiting for the new CK as am sure it will be just as good also.

I have Rise of Flight, but i didn't like it..... I waited for that game for years..

OT:LOL somehow this remains old UBI days when we were waiting Pacfic Fighters. OMG. I loved that P-47 won teh war discussion or OLEg's FW 190 FM is porked....with graphical demonstrations... Tongue
Love & peace
