Is this realistic (Spitfire FSX vs IL2 1946)

Just a little question. I play Il2 1946 much more than FSX. I recently bought the RealAir Spitfire. When i set everything to most realism in FSX, the Spitfire is so easy to fly and i can even do inverted loops (continually).

When i try this in IL2 with a Spitfire MK XIV, i am not able to do one half inverted loop... What sim is more realistic?

I am not a real life pilot, so i'd like to hear your opinions.

Are you talking about the aircraft energy, or the pilot getting red-out?

I'm talking about the energy. When i do the same inverted loop in IL2, it doesn't have that much energy as in FSX.

My observations:

- Did they start the inverted loop in the same direction at the same speed?
-They don't appear to be the same aircraft for starters. The FSX one looks to have the benefit of counter rotating props.
-The Spit in IL2 did throttle back at the bottom?

I don't know how good the FM is in FSX is, nor if the total weight is the same (Fuel, bullets). Mr. Maddox hamstringed the virtual pilot (VP) by the force it could pull on the stick/yoke. He said a number once, that made me think it was a health-inspector's number for safe lifting and not of a pilot pulling for all his worth to survive. Don't know how many positive or negative G the VP can pull in IL2, so that's a number that could be of influence here.

is it even the same model of spitfire? loadout? WEP? same Altitude? same season? same area? all important to your question.

Thanks for replying guys. That's a good question, the same height yes, but the season and loadout i really don't know. I understand that it's also very important. Maybe i do a comparison with equal settings later.

As far as you know, were ww ii aircraft able to do inverted loops? Another thing that surprised me was how easy it is to fly an aircraft in FSX. I fly IL2 for several years and it took me quite long to master it. But maybe that experience made it easy for me in FSX. :wink:

Some early fighters couldn't handle negative G, so those will not.

I've always thought aircraft in IL2 do "dive" poorly, or more accurately degrees-per-seconds with the stick/yoke pressed forward. Maybe someone with the right tools can shed light on how much negative G some of the aircraft can produce. I hope they at least manage -4G. The loop time in IL2 takes a long time and is dependant on those negative Gs

I agree with you. Doing a loop certainly takes more time than in any other sim. I heard the developers of the upcoming 4.10 patch for IL2, will take care of G-forces. Let's hope it's got a positive effect on that.

Structural G Limits & Multiple Joystick Profiles (internal DT development)

At present all aircraft in IL2 have a single fixed Structural G limit of +13G. It only really becomes an issue with aircraft with exceptionally light elevators such as the P51. Pull more than +13G and you loose your wings. The real life situation is a little more complicated. Real aircraft are designed with an Ultimate load and In Service design load. Both are for a defined configuration and weight.

A positive effect on positive Gs, and a negative effect on negative Gs! Tongue :mrgreen:

Id say IL2 is more realistic.

i think wwII planes were able to do inverted loops but the pilots .. were not.

but why do you want more realism in doing inverted loops ? Big Grin

I recently bought FS X after several years of flying with IL2. The first thing i noticed in FSX was how easy i could control/fly the aircraft, even with most realism. Even inverted loops can be done continally in FSX. I just figured what is more realistic,because i'm no pilot. Still i like IL2 so much better, for replay functions and crashes.

In IL2 i had to learn to fly the aircraft,in Fsx i choose one and just fly instantly, in my opinion too easy.

Well, FSX is realistic just as long as you fly it like a real thing. The 747 can do inverted loops as it is only designed for commercial flights with takeoff, landing, level flight, approachs and stuff, no aerobatics.
