America's Ace of Aces Contest $300 in prizes
#1

This is your chance to prove who is the greatest virtual P38 pilot. Can you match the exploits of Richard Ira Bong?

68 Years ago on December 28th, 1942 Richard Ira Bong started his onslaught of the Empire of Japan. On this day he scored his first air victories against the best trained pilots the world has ever seen.

To honor this date I am announcing a contest. The ultimate purpose is to gather as many videos of you flying as Dick Bong scoring his 40 victories. These videos will be combined into a video of Dick Bong’s combat career that will be presented to the Bong Veterans Memorial Center in Superior, WI which is close to his home of Polar, WI.

Bong Veterans Memorial Center

Hopefully your videos will be compelling enough to make a first class video that the Center can use to keep the memory of America’s Ace of Aces alive. Hopefully generations will look at this video and gain an appreciation of the skills involved in scoring 40 victories over Japan’s finest pilots.

The second purpose of this contest is to crown the highest scoring virtual P38 pilot and all the accolades that will follow including cold, hard cash. I am putting up $300 of my own money as an incentive for you to fly all of Bong’s missions in IL2 1946 and to see if you can exceed or equal Bong’s remarkable score.

The highest scores will be awarded thusly

1st place will be awarded $100
2nd place will be awarded $75
3rd place will be awarded $50
4th place will be awarded $25

A special award of $50 will be given for the most dramatic mission.

The rules are as follows…

1. You must fly every mission in the campaign America’s Ace of Aces 3.1 by Hairog downloaded from here
http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=...ls&id=3868

2. You will submit a recording via a IL2 1946 track of every mission flown to Hairog via email at Gogebic36@gmail.com so be sure to turn on your camera before every single mission.

3. Every mission will be flown in IL2 1946 version 4.10 using the appropriate skins for the mission. Use the ones provided with the campaign or if you have a more historically accurate one you may use that.

4. You will fly and then email your track to me with no more than one mission a day.

5. The campaign will be flown using the highest realism settings (realistic). You must land your plane successfully after every mission in friendly territory and get credit for your kills.

6. If you die then your finished because your dead. No second chances so don’t take chances.

7. You will have one year to complete the campaign.

Any questions please post them here.

Happy hunting and good luck.

PM me or ask your questions here.

We have our first contestant and after 2 missions his score is 5. Nice video too. Remember to send a track and not a screen capture because we need to be able to change angles etc.

Good luck.

I just would like to know if there are any other criteria for judging tracks other than the 7 stated rules.

Nothing that comes to mind from me. Is there something in particular you can think of?

Hopefully this can all be done on the up and up with honor and no skullduggery.

I'm sure there is someway to hack or cheat but I sure how this doesn't happen. My goal is to gather as many tracks I can to create the video.

Don't worry about getting a mission success. All you have to do is land at a friendly airbase and that's good enough. Make sure you keep the camera rolling until you land safely. Every once in a while I will ask you (the contestants) for a screen shot of your results page so I can check and make sure you are on the up and up. Smile

Example:

I'll be watching for any irregularities and any aircraft lost and realistic difficulty etc.

We have one contestant that has 30 claims. He has sent in some great tracks. He'll be hard to beat.

There is a problem with mission 12 (bong620. The one where Bong tries to shoot down Washing Machine Charlie. If you are entering the contest let me know and I will email you the corrected mission.

I will post it soon on Missions4today.

Sorry about that.
