One thing I don't like is the yellow nosed Bf 109E-3

The nose's are very bright, maybe the could darken them just a little?

What bothers me is the game is using the E-3 version in the first place. Only in July was the type more prevelant than the E-4. For the remainder of the battle it was the E-4 that carried the brunt of the offensive.

Likewise, I'm guessing the Spit and Hurricane will have armour plate modeled for the pilot when in actual fact, this was a rarity during the early part of the Battle.

Having said that, I understand why Oleg and the team had to slant the odds in favour of the RAF. You can't have a 'true to life' game that changes the outcome of history

Would be interesting to know just how many veterans and scholars Oleg et al contacted in developing the game or whether they just relied on performance charts alone (which in the case of RAF Farnborough are a little skewed, IMO, but that's another story.)

With regards to Planemad's comments, I do think all the planes are a little too clean in their apperance. They all look as though they have come straight off the factory floor.

this game would be neat to modify if you could

I'm still not convinced at all. The ground/aircraft looks even better in (modded) IL2. Is this all we can get in 2011/2012/2013?

A few years back i had a friendly discussion with CanonUk, i told him that his awesome textures where too clean, he replied very simpel;...in those days the planes where brand new, just out of the factory and the maintenance personel took pride for their work and pilots...

so its historically correct...stil ,personally i agree with you, i"d rather see the textures more used it somehow fits the old feel of ww2 better

Good pilots and ground crew would all ways keeps the planes clean, not just because they took pride in there machines but having a clean aircraft could give you an extra 10 knots or so and having just that slight advantage could mean the differents between life and death.

Any way don't know if you guys no, but SOW has a built in weathering layer for all aircraft. So as you fly along in your plane it will slowly get dirtier and dirtier as well as other wreathing effects like paint chips will appear.

If you look at this screen short you can see a wreathing slider so you can set how weathered your plane and others is at start of the mission.
