(WIP)Team International Brigade: ag_ Karelia is coming
#1

Team International Brigade wishes a merry Christmas and Happy new Year with this first picture of new map under construction. Big Grin
Kapteeni:
-I found finally a good source for Arctic satellitedata and i send it to IL2 communitys master of the maps Mr. Agracier, who made the data for IL2 engine. He is also making a nice texture set and working with roads and railroads for this huge map.
I will populate the map using autopop tool ( if i ever learn to use it) and picking some villages and cities from Default Gulf of Finland and my previous smaller maps that i have made of this area.
Friction mod will be used to make airfelds.
Kapteeni will also make at least one DCG campaign for this map of the
East Karelia and Leningrad area AKA KARELIAN FRONT
Here is the area as seen in FMB map ( not final)As you see, the area is very big, so it will take about 2 weeks before map is ready ( ),be sure:

There will be both winter and summer versions of map with all the known airfields. Roads have been made with help of Googlemaps and other sources.
many thing has been changed after WW2, but the area is still virtually wildernes, At least 70% is covered with Taigaforest. Due engine limitations cities and villages are smaller than in RL. leningrad is a big Challenge, but i will use default Leningrad as a base. I think that Oleg and his crew made a pretty good job with Leningrad.
I will post some early screenshots from map later during Christmas Holidays

There is "another" version also in making----
And thank you all for the support. When Agracier has finished the texturing and all the main roads are there, it is more or less copy/paste from my earlier maps . Airfields had to be redone from scratch. plus farms and smaller villages done with Autopop... Lot's of work ahead.
But now it is Christmas time.
Time to go to traditional finnish Sauna... It is about -20 outside..

News:
Map is developing faster than we though. Airfields are pretty much done. So are the small villages, main roadsystem and railroads. At the moment we are populating map by hand. Leningrad and other cities. I have made Leningrad from scratch, but i have used default Leningrad objects like palaces and stuff.
Here is some screenshots straight from FMB:

The blue texts indicates the airfields. They are many...

The map is doing well. Now it is testing time before first release. I haven't have much time lately due real time issues, but this weekend, i'll be doing DCG campaign for map. It is the best way to test the map.
There will be 4 versions of map:
Summer, Aútumn, winter without ice on water and iced water.
I think that it is the biggest map ever made for public for IL2. It takes few minutes (3-4) to load because of the size of it.
For us Finns, it is a must.
You can find screenies at SAS site.
I will add some of new ones here as soon as i have time to do.

I am about to release the 1.0 version of my Army Group Centre map and that will measure 518.4 km x 428.8 km, a total of 222,290 square km at 1:1 scale.

I guess we can figure out which is the biggest when they are both released. Smile
