IL-2 CoD skins

No it is NOT a "cheat"

I know its not a cheat. I'm concerned that STEAM might think it is since they said they would look at textures. Their theory is someone might make their plane's skin invisible, and they think that might be a cheat.

As per 1C:
Most importantly, I need to mention something about Valve anti-cheat. Valve has their standard feature running on top of multiplayer, and we have some of our own additional checks. The way it works is not an automatic immediate server ban, but rather a data-gathering and review process resulting in eventual account ban from all multiplayer for the game.

So while many of you may enjoy playing around with game content, please do so offline. We do not yet have the user interface for switching between modified and stock files, nor do we have the server GUI to allow/disallow custom content so that makes things a little more difficult for the players. We’re probably going to ignore any infractions before today, but we’ll become more aggressive in the coming days. Please be warned. There will be a wide-scale account ban once we identify a large number of culprits. Everyone will be banned simultaneously, with no prior warning or chance for redemption. If you do not wish to be made an example of, please do not use ANY modified files in any online matches.

I just went and read the whole post again at the 1C site by luthier
And there is nothing in it about texture checking, or did I miss something.

Hi burns, if it going to be a problem to you, then don't download the skins

Not a problem...I'd like to do some myself. I was just concerned about STEAM. Wish they'd at least give you a warning if you make a mistake and change something you shouldn't. Like, can you put a photo in your cockpit like we do in IL2?

This is the quote from Luther:
No that's not true, sorry if I was unclear. We won't ban you for SSAO, but we will ban you for FM / DM modifications, transparent textures, etc.

How do they know if a texture is transparent? I wondering if that includes any texture change? Just not sure.

Hi

Don't change anything if you are worried, but no they shouldn't ban you, people change things with other games like textures and other things, so you should be fine.

Subject: Hi John Here About IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover

Hi again Anatoly, am e-mailing you with a question about COD airplane textures.

Like I have said I own a very large IL2 website with over 46, 000 members that are

All IL2 players, I have a COD forum at my site as well and some of the members

Have been posting new skins of the COD planes that they have painted, the question

Is will the STEAM servers allow these repaints to be used on line? as there seems to

Be some thought that a repaint of a plane will get the player that uses them on line through

A STEAM server banned, can you please confirm this for me.

Thank you

John Marco

Hi John,

Here is the answer from Ilya “Luthier” Shevchenko:

“Yes, the game is of course designed to use custom skins, and they will integrate with steam seamlessly.

There's absolutely no problem with using custom skins, as long as they go through the stock channel, i.e. are stored in your game's il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\PaintSchemes\Skins folder and are in one of the standard formats, that is jpg or bmp

If however you are using the sfs crack to mod the plane's .dds files, that might very well get you banned in case you use the locked textures to add visibility to enemy planes, or transparency to your own, or something like that.

In short, just use the stock location for custom paintschemes in il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\PaintSchemes\Skins

and you should be perfectly fine!”

Cheers,

So as I read it so long as your not useing the crack skin mod and you put the
Skins in the right place in your COD game the STEAM server will not ban you.

So lets see some more really nice skins you skinners Big Grin

Hmmm. Looks like photos are out (for inside the cockpit) since we would have to extract the info from the .SFS files.
