The prototype of Italian aircraft flew in 1934 as a commercial airplane and then was modified for the roles of bomber and torpedo for use of the Regia Aeronautica during World War II. Three of the six planes of the model S.79C (Corsa C), which had been acquired by the Italian Military Aeronautics and modified to participate in the race Istres / Damascus / Paris on 20.08.37, when they came in first, second, third and sixth places were changed again as S.79T (Transatlantic). Received extra internal fuel tanks in the aft fuselage and an autopilot for a "raid" on the Atlantic south to Rio de Janeiro. For the "raid" were selected aircraft registered I-BRUN, I-BISE and I-MONI, equipped with three 9-cylinder radial engine Alfa Romeo 126 RC-34 (Bristol Pegasus manufactured under license), 750 hp each, which took off from military airport in Guidonia 24.01.38 and climbing in Dakar and Natal, covered the 9,842 km in 00:20 hours of flight. The I-MONI suffered a crash on takeoff propeller in Dakar, but continued to fly twin-engine until Christmas and the other reached in Rio de Janeiro with a day late. Regia Aeronautica in the devices had MM.356 enrollment, and MM.358 MM.359 and were piloted in the "raid" by the military and Attilio Amedeo Biseo in Paradise I-BISE, Bruno Mussolini and the Mancinelli Renato on the I-Brun and Antonio Moscatelli Castellani and Gori on the I-MONI. The prefixes civilians were assembled with parts of the names of the pilots. After his arrival the three aircraft were acquired by the Brazilian government and distributed to the Military Aviation School with enrollment K 420 K 422 for flights of long range and training tools. The three went to the fab in 1941 and were used until 1942, stopping for lack of spare parts due to the war.
