24 bit to 256 bit BMP without change
#1

Hello guys. One question about skinning in using photoshop. Why can`t I save from PSD
file to 256 bit BMP without color distortion...? Its not much, but on some skins the difference
can be clearly seen... In Indexed color option I can`t choose exact color option....

Hi Boyan,

you need "GIMP"!

1.) Save the skin in your photosoftware (what ever you have) in xxx.tga!

2.) Drop the .tga file into "GIMP"!

3.) Click "Image/ Model/ Index ...to 256 and save in .bmp!

That`'s all.

Thank you Gerhard on that info. GIMP surely does the best job. But as I research more,
I see that there is allways some color distrotion when converting 24 bit to 256 bit....
There can`t be an exact transition, right?

Hi Boyan,

work with Gimp and you will see!

24 Bit.xxx change to .tga and change with Gimp to "Index 256 c .bmp" and all is ok, ...you will see!
As I know there is no better software for changing skins available.

Sorry for the catastrophicle english,

Merry Christmas, Gerhard
