Thank you for downloading the 51st version of Batbombs NVietnam.
This is a continuing Work in progress and there will be updates forthcomming.
The map has been tested in both DBW 1.7 and UP3RC4.
First and foremost all credit should be given to Batbomb this is his map I only threw a few objects on the map to hopefully provide some realistic target areas for the allied to Bomb and the Mig pilots to defend.
Target areas (SA-2 battery LR) Thanks to Wasted. these are his creation and they look awesomely realistic. Thank You so Much wasted. Also to wasted for his technical support he has been a major part of this Project thank you so much. To OC-Tiger for testing Thanks Much Tiger.
Ok last I want to Thank all the modders, The admins at freemoddling for allowing me to use up there bandwidth with all the screenies Thank you Sirs.
A little about the Map you may find several areas where roads and rail lines, etc are not complete this will be addressed in the next update.

Install DBW1.7 in your root DBW/STD/Maps install the BB_North_Vietnam_51st folder copy the contents of the text folder to your tex folder add the lines from the allini text to your allini file. load up the game in FMB and build your self a mission.

UP3 in your root #UP#/std/maps/ install the BB_North_Vietnam_51st folder copy the contents of the tex folder to your text folder add the lines form the allini text to your allini load it up in FMB and build your self a mission.

I will be releaseing a template shortly with all sam and aaa sites, harbours ,pt boatbases populated. beware of the sam sites they will kill ya.

You'll need these mods to use the template
Nike and SA-2 SAMs as stationary objects by CY6 located here at this link

Copy or paste the 15 files in the download into your BB_North_Vietnam_51st folder, overwrite the files already there. Load a up the game and build and save yourself a mission.

First in the fmb when you open the map you should see two types of SA-2 sites 1st SA-2 Battery LR, & Sa-2 Site SR The LR sites were designed By wasted and they look very realistic, the second site SR was my design although there is no difference in the range of the sites hence LR ,SR, I had planned to populate the LR sites with a full compliment of 6 SA-2's and the SR with only two. Here area few screens of the sites Also these make great AAA sites for early Missions before the NVA starting deploying the SA-2

Small Update added Dien Bien Phu, and Lang Son Air bases. Install copy and paste or extract the files to your BB_North_Vietnam_51st folder located in your mapmods folder of your game.
Thanks to Mission bug for allowing me to use his textures from his awesome South vietnam map.
I added the darkred brown airfield texture to this update.

I must say the Vietnam maps series represent a major breakthrough in
the evolution of IL2. Much like cannon's channel maps had done.
They open a new chapter in airpower for this sim, openning a new era
of warfare gaming entirely. I have flown modern planes in FSX in the past
and always been desapointed not to be able to try them in actual combat,
and fire the sofisticated weapons in almost real situations. Now I have battle
with the F4 over Vietnam 1968, and compare to the Sinai, that's far more
hawsome in immersion. Looking foward to fly over Nortvietnam soon and
avoid those pesky guidelines ! Thanks a lot to Batbomb and everyone else
for the formidable efforts.

Can anybody help me to find the airbase Lang Son on the map, please ?
Dien Bien Phu is there, but that no.
I know that it is north from Bac Giang, but cannot find it .

Uzin just checked it's not there, apparently when i saved the files after editing the map it did not save correctly. There will be an update shortly and you will be able to find Lang Son Ab.
