Stationary aircraft on Carriers
#1

I remember, long ago in an early version of PF, you could put stationary ac on stationary carriers, such as ones at anchor. I believe you could do this with the "F4" key. It still works with lights but not planes. I was wondering, if there might be a fix for this?

Hi,

no expert, but try putting a normal flight with 0 fuel, can't test because I'm away from pc, but i think this does the job, I think it also works on moving carriers, not sure!

that works, but eventually they just disappear. It's weird. It would be really nice to be able to put stationary a/c on carriers...

You might want to try it with a stationary carrier (different menu)

Hi,

as a last resort, try having the time on 'static'...it might help, unfortunatly, cannot test for you, am away from game pc Sad

they have tp have No loadout/no fuel/no radio coms/no parachute and must be 'set' to the carrier as take-off waypoint
they should not disappear

You are correct Fabianfred, although I have accomplished it by just putting them on the carrier (moving carrier in a coop) with no fuel. The important thing is to make sure they are not carrying any ordinance because they will drop it as soon as they spawn.

To simulate a Midway type scenario, where aircraft are caught on deck with fuel and ammo on board, I put a single flight of 4xfighters on first with zero fuel, then another two flights of 4xdive/torpedo bombers loaded down with full fuel and bombs and torpedoe. They will spawn behind the fighters, start up, and just sit there all mission long at idle, waiting for the fighters to take off. They make a nice explosion when the torpedos hit too!

To my knowledge, we've never been able to put Stationary planes on a static or moving carrier, which I have always lamented. Sad I would love to be able to stack the deck with planes with their wings folded. Smile

I also use that method to 'pre-damage' a carrier...this makes it have smoke from damage and allows it to be sunk more easily by only a few planes attacking it....by having planes with bombs or torpedoes spawn and explode....at mission start...or whenever you want

The IJN didn't embark aircraft on the flight deck, actually. The aircraft "caught on deck" at Midway were actually below the flight deck in the hanger spaces, there were almost no planes at all on the flight decks (they had just landed CAP planes within minutes on most of the 4 CVs, and it would take rather a long time to spot a strike on deck).

The US CVs, OTOH, those really need planes either spotted forward, spotted aft, or gone on a mission. Someday maybe we'll have a sim that properly models WW2 CV operations...

i want to put "static" planes on DF carriers, not coops. some objects can be raised like smoke and lights, but others cant, its like they are "magnatised" to the floor. i think all it would take is to remove the magnet from the file, but i cant do this. needs an editing prog.

I think it is due to the fact that the smoke/lights/fire objects which CAN be raised....do not affect your flight if you crash into them....other things would be different

In an earlier version of PF you could raise static ac just as you can lights. Then a new patch came out and it was no longer possible. (can't remember which patch). Was wondering if it could be "reverse engineered" to once again allow stationary ac to be raised? Sure looks swell on approach to Ford Island to fly over those carriers, at anchor, and see their deck full of ac, albeit without wings folded. Just a thought.
