Just a test, none were deployed. I think they only built 1 or 2, and both had the floats removed and saw combat as regular f4fs.
The primary reason was that the USN Construction Battalions (CBs, aka "Sea Bees") built real airfields so fast there was no need for crappy fighters on floats when you could have real fighters.
