I now it was discuss many times, but I want refresh this thread.

Maybe creating early versions of P-38 wouldn't require lot of work (I don't now, I'm not a modder). In fact only a cosmetic changes with new FM and new slot like in Spitfire Mk I, even better because we don't have to move gun position.

If so, I will have a chat with the FM guy and see if we can prepare this so there will only be the need for a new Slot by one of the masterminds.

Lockheed proposed a carrier-based Model 822 version of the Lightning for the United States Navy. The Model 822 would have featured folding wings, an arresting hook, and stronger undercarriage for carrier operations. The Navy was not interested, as they regarded the Lightning as too big for carrier operations and did not like liquid-cooled engines anyway, and the Model 822 never went beyond the paper stage. However, the Navy did operate four land-based F-5Bs in North Africa, inherited from the USAAF and redesignated FO-1.

OMG, that is rather cool! Wicked. Learn something new everyday - I'd be keen on that. Hell, why not both the F and the Radial versions! Both would be cool, and I know personally, the RAF662'nd would KILL for a navalized version of the '38.
