Now things are getting really confusing compared to the sometimes incomprehensive instructions by vpmedia.
After patch V4.08 you start with Soundmod and vpmedia says this is Step 3 after Mods_4_4.09b1m_new.zip.
And in 4A: "DOWNLOAD > English_Career_Language_Fix.rar " Where can I find that one?
After this if I download 409_MOD_b1m.exe do I have to download the PRIMARY MOD, ACTIVATOR and the socalled QuickLaunchPack with Mods_4_4.09b1m_new.zip which vpmedia talks about. I don't see it mentioned in your revision anymore.
And something else. These threads could be much more popular if they were easier to find. This is all about a V4.09 patch but it is in the IL2MODS v4.08m Download&Discussion and then you have to select IL2MODS Discussion section v4.08. The vpmedia instructions and your revision are hidden deep down in one of the pages unfortunately. Maybe a suggestion to start a new V4.09 section?

Thanx Forager, I will give it a try again when I have some more time and will let you know if it works (Soundmod and V4.09b1m) by using your guidelines.
But I already had the impression that my install reverted to V4.08 because of the Soundmod 0.93 installation afterwards. :twisted:
It would be great to have my Slovakia map and the new Desert map back again with all those great mods. Then I have the summit of WWII flightsim (untill BoB:SoW comes out...whenever that will be in the future, next lightyear or so :wink: )

I shall try it after having enough time and courage. In my special case, I buyed the version IL2:46 ver 4.08m a year ago, then on January or so I installed 4.09b1m version because of Slovakia map. Well if anyone could F*c*up a perfect scenario...It's Me!
I already had a good install to 4.09b1m & the QMBPlu8s so I tried to add those maps & aircraft & somewhere along the way I killed it! Now the startup quits at 60% & returns to the desktop.
I hope they is a-way to overcome this without starting from the beginning with a new install..
Any ideas what I may try first before I start over again... It was running so well too..

No Forager...your detailed explanation is so dang perfect that I just can't believe it...i'm as happy as a pig-in-the-mud...
I would never even attempt to add the new maps & aircraft mods without it...
What I did was to rerun the sound mod thingie & switched from the 093 back to the 090 sounds & "whalaaa" all is good to go again.. somehow I missed something along the way while trying to download, install, fix dinner, have a couple of cold ones, run to the store for milk and a couple of other things...
I have already printed out & put in my binder for the next time. Your step by step is what I have been looking for all along...
The Beginners guide will get most of lthe stuff you need, but I defy any new person to get a good up-and-running new dvd 1946 installed patched...and modded to 4.091bm working the first time around.. it just ain't probable...
Your more detailed guide to a ***BASIC*** up and running 4.09b1m Will save time and frustration for those of us who believe that computers are all run by magic . They are a complete mystery to those of us who are computer challenged...

Oppps...Sorry there Forager..Didn't mean to give you an anxiety attack. I've been mouthing off for the past 68 years without thinking...Something that I've just gotta work on...
With your install guide along with Fc's theQMBPlus mod, makes this game just come alive for me.
I have tried it all..hyperlobby, coop's, different squadrons & had a real great time for the past 6-7-8 years.."How ever long this game has been out", but my real enjoyment has always been the QMB.
I have the beginning of cataracts plus weird hours so QMB is my fun. now I can edit those maps & put things my own way in a quick mission.
On line I am just cannon fodder.. i don't see anyone until they are shooting. Even a small label with a small star etc would give me a equal shot, but the young guys feel lthat they are to manly to use labels...so i do QMB...love it...
BTW..When I walk into my computer room in the quiet of the early morning I always hear this small, pleading voice..."Don't touch me!"
