This map is now a full release.......

***********FOR 4.09mbeta ONLY ********************************

viewtopic.php?t=8363&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

Fly_zo has made an installer...

This also uses a PCP texture by Lal_Rone...so it looks nicer if you install his texture.....(this replaces the default black texture...it is not a new one ....but looks more realistic with dirt and rust)

(The link is inoperative)

also available here...

ffb_airfieldPCP_tex.exe (The link is inoperative)

READ ME.................

For 4.09mbeta only.....

This map also uses Objects from the Lal_Rone Hanger pack and Canon's Objects which came with his channel map...so you will need to download and install them if you have not already done so....

Canon's......... viewtopic.php?p=62174#62174
Lal_Rone's ........ viewtopic.php?p=73188#73188

Being very mountainous, the North of Thailand, Laos and Burma, look their best when using the 4.09beta patch and the increased distance visibility available when using Perfect settings.

Towns and villages are only lightly populated .... and in the pack are the new trees I have included.......being:

Coconut trees; Flame trees (two types); banana trees (three types); Bougainvillea; Bamboo; yellow tree

The Kiev kolok tower I have sunk below ground level to look like a chedi/stupa.

The airstrips are 'In the rough'....so be careful when taxiing ....I have used an invisible kronstadt plate to ensure smooth runways for take-off/landings.

I use a detailed 2D map which, although modern, is derived from satellite data, so the size and shape of the hills/mountains are exactly like you see upon the ground. I have added Black lines for the railways and red for the roads, so please ignore the modern roads marked upon this map which will have no equivalent on the ground.

I have made this map as a mix of old and new........I left the modern reservoirs in, which came with the satellite data, since they are pleasing to the eye on the landscape and are an extra help with navigation. There is a certain amount of Jungle, but probably far less than there actually was at the time of the Second World War.

All rivers are above sea-level, so if you look from the surface level you can see under the landscape....I do not intend to rectify this. This is also the reason that there are no normal bridges on the map....but I have constructed simple looking bridges for the main crossings (although these are not an object which can be destroyed or targeted in the usual manner).

I tried to approximate the huge canal system in place in the Bangkok area, hampered by the minimum size of one pixel for rivers. After WW2 Thailand started to modernise in the 1950's and filled in many canals (klongs) in the Bangkok metropolitan area to build roads. It used to have the name of 'Venice of the East'.

At my download site ( http://www.4shared.com/dir/4397598/27d3 ... aring.html ) I also have a version of the 'morenations' mod ....in which I have included some of the Royal Thai Air Force Squadrons from their 1940 orbat.

I have made a few simple skins with RTAF markings for the Hawk and Ki-21 and they are at my site also.

Once you get the version 1 up and running without any problems, then you should download and install this patch.....which will replace the two new textures you have with better looking ones....and also adjust the airfield at Mingladon to more realistic proportions...

http://www.4shared.com/file/56366323/ff ... d=73006d26

Mr Oblongo and a few other guys who have been enthusiastic about the alpha and beta test versions of this map have been feeding me information about correct lengths of airstrips etc. so more patches may come out as time goes by....

Those who have been using my early versions must realise that the new full install has had its name altered to ffb_Thailand from just Thailand....so any missions to be transfered to this for use by others will need the name changed in the mission file.....

Got the map installed okay and its fantastic. However I cannot save a mission made in FMB.

I had this same issue with Cannons BOB map. I was only able to fix this by moving folders around as the defult install I presume put things where they shouldnt be. It seems I only get this inability to save issue on maps with custom objects.

The Folder structure for the thai install looks ok but I cannot Save anything ... any ideas.

I note that in Cannons map the Objects folder is named CAN_OBJECTS whist the Thai objects folder is named OBJECTS_ffb. is the order of prefix significant ? I mean should it read ffb_OBJECTS?

the folder name isn't important...because inside the file structure starts with the '3do' folder

make sure you have the entries put in your static.ini for all the new objects...and for the canon's objects and for the Lal_Rones hangers

"make sure you have the entries put in your static.ini for all the new objects...and for the canon's objects and for the Lal_Rones hangers"

Ok I found your details to be added to Static.ini Fabian but the No save issue still remains.

Regarding Lal_Rones hangers, are these installed as part of your Thai map install ?
I thought they came with Canons map... which I have installed and running just fine.

Where do I find the details of these to add to Static.ini ?
