Cause of 60% & 20% crashes?
#1

So what exactly can cause these these 60 and 20 % crashes.

I'm at a point where I don't want to have to reinstall everything.

My install worked untill the new ac 2.9 with the D11 and k14. Is there any way to trouble shoot this problem??!

is it a double file thing. Shouldn't there maybe be a utility that can check the consistency of the mod folder in relation to the File Folder?

try installing the 2.9 installer, that should clear it up. mine crash at 60% but cleared up after I downloaded the 2.9 installer
or uninstall the last new mod that you put in.

This crash can occurre if you have not entered all the text lines correctly into the std file on a manual install of a Wip ac or static object or forgetting to place in the AC folder itself or even a skins folder. basicly the computer cant find something its been told to use and when it cant it crashes. The hard part is trying to find the item that's missing on the 190 D11/d14 mod I think it might be the new bomb that may be the cause.

I have the 2.9 AC installer. I checked the STD files, they have all 3 aircraft listed, still crashing at 60%. Don't know about the bomb.

THERE ARE multiple planes_ru weapons_ru in multiple 118n folders, one of which is in STD and one of which is in the FILES folder. This is confusing to me. Should I have MULTIPLE planes and weapons_ru files??

Please, I urge people having CTDs to:

UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE! The AC installer was at 2.8 until the two newest planes came out - your Bf-109 + Fw-190s.

Try re-installing your AC installer - Make sure to choose the right path - if you have sound mod .93, type in the corresponding number, etc.

If that doesn't work, it's probably an error on your part not copying + pasting stuff in the right STD files, as Koi already told you.

If that doesn't do it, I don't know what to tell you. Try deleting each latest installed mod from your MODS folder.

As RAF_Magpie has wisely said too many times around here, "Follow the installation directions given exactly!"

Also, the "search" function is extremely useful. Please use it in the future. Or you could browse around the IL-2 Technical Help section of the forums. There are about 3 dozen probably on the first page alone (heh), and your question may have already been solved.

You may have to re-install everything in the end. Copy your paintscheme & missions folders, and whatever else you want to keep.

I hope this works for you! Let us know how things work out...

btw, you should practice good hygiene more often, Peter!

by the way, the AC installer is marked as 2.9 but in the DOS window its called 2.8????!!!

And I have been careful, up to this point with installing stuff. Maybe its just a little haphazard for me. Oh well.

60% ---> wrong file buttons

20% ---> wrong .ini files, or mistakes in java code

I agree with Dr. Strangelove's above post. The 2.9 update fixed all kinds of problems I was having.

improperly placed files.

Graphics, effects, mods, etc, going in the wrong folders

The culprit was a FW190 A2 made by a nice frenchman. But I think i got a BUTTON file for the file folder gui from him and other installs altered this so now I would need another button file.

We don't make the buttons files to support off site aircraft guys, so if you're running any of these... nice frenchmen's... or others, aircraft, you will encounter these problems.

These non-AAA aircraft are the cause of these CTD's 90% of the time when its NOT someone simply not following the installation instructions, like simply running the latest supplied A/C Installer...

We do not support them, period. If you still demand on using these un-AAA approved aircraft; do NOT seek assistance with them here. Usually these other creators will edit their buttons file to suit anyway.

Its not like you HAVE to allow them into servers.
