Heeeellllpppp! 4870x2+8GB Ram-Q6600CPU Fraps 4-FPS???????
#1

Right, just tried to capture some footage with Fraps, and (I use VSync on),the top left corner shows rock solid 60-fps. Great Wink

Now I hit record (honestly I've been doing this a while!), suddenly the fps drops to 4fps and the game is a slideshow. 1/4 or 1/2 speed makes no difference?

I had until recently got a pair of 8800GTS in SLi mode, with 4GB of Ram.

Just upgraded to a 4870x2 with 8GB of Corsair XMS Ram.

Now I can't capture with fraps.

I'm using catalyst 8.11 driver.

Anyone had this problem before? Cheers, MP.

Nope...not yet mate.

Do I see right, you use a Quad Core CPU?

Hm...could it be, that you're using IL-2 and Fraps only on one (the same) Core?

6600 / 4 = 1650 MHz --> a bit low for both and full settings + Mods + Fraps (capturing eats many CPU resourses afaik from other tools)

That could explain the low FPS Rate for me... your Rig is High Standard my friend.

But I dunno how to get Fraps to Multi-Core-usage ... IL-2 supports Quadcore CPU.

Hope that helps to kill the Lag.

Forget my nonsence to this Problem.... if it has worked with NV8800GTS SLI ...

hmm ... maybe a driver issue ... did you uninstalled nv-driver completely?

personally the code in il2 is quite old now your secs are very good but to run 2 cards for il2 is over kill a 8800gts or gtx should easily handle max settings with 4/6 ram in vista my 8800gts with 4g ram renders every thing at maximum very smoothly

I'm not sure about ATI cards....especially in SLI....but I run a single 9800GTX OCX 512mb card and I get on the high 100's constant with all candy turned on....something is wrong there m8.

But with my card....I have the vert sync turned off to improve fps.

I've had similar problem with Flight simulator....everything was fine until I turned on recording. One question,do you have two hard drives?Make fraps store recorded material on second hard drive, not the one with the game instal. That helped me.

Fraps records pretty large avi files,so I think one HD could have a problem running a game&100 other processes and recording 1GB per min avi at the same time......
