My Second Campaign: Prisoners of War
#1

This is going to be a four-part campaign for IL-2 1946 4.09b + AAA Mods.

This campaign uses the following mods:
*AAA Unified Installer 1.0
*The Philippines map
*The Alpens map
*The More Nations and Squadrons mod by Gaston
*The LAL_Rone Okinawa map
*The OJ map by DixieCapt

This is a campaign following not just one pilot (though he's the one who generates the other pilots) but seven other pilots as well. Kinda inspired by the FEAF campaign, the first part starts out with Sam Sland, a fighter pilot in the Philippines when war breaks out. After a few missions fighting in the defense of Manila (and fighting in Bataan and Corregidor), the campaign jumps to late 1944, with Beaufighters attacking the prison ship going to Japan that is carrying Sam.....

In captivity in Japan, Sam meets other pilots of the war from many theaters, and you get to fly the stories of these pilots. And a little ending to the war at the end of Part Four....

I'm estimating that every part will be about 40 missions, so in all, about 160 missions total will be in the entire campaign. That's why I'm breaking it into 4 parts Smile

So, there you go. This is to be a tribute to WWII pilots. Also, I haven't started on the actual campaign yet. Before I start it, I'm working on a preview to see if everyone wants to play it. The preview will be ten missions long.

After I'm done with the first four parts, I will do an Axis version of the campaign. Some ideas would be useful..... After that, I plan possibly on doing a non-modded campaign. I think I'm gonna rotate. The reason I'm doing a mod campaign is because my earlier campaign, Battle over Guadalcanal, was a non-modded campaign.

Let me know what you think, before and after the preview!

That sounds really innovative, I've never seen a story driven IL2 campaign before; usually it's just a series of missions. Good luck with it!

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.

TThanks Everyone!

I've made up my mind: The Axis version will be for non-mods, and the Allied version will be for mods.

POW Cattermole - surprising name, your first word in your title is the name of my series - There's actually plenty of campaigns with scripted missions. Check at Mission4today - I suggest the Sonder Kommando 3 campaign. By Llambiggles. My god, what a good campaign..... Big Grin

Fair enough, i can't say i've looked much.

My name on this is P/O W. 'Moggy' Cattermole as in Pilot Officer W. 'Moggy' Cattermole, the W. standing for Will, or something (in the book piece of cake, you don't ever hear Moggy's first name).

I haven't checked over at M4T; i stick really only to this site. I may have a look in a bit, so cheers for the heads up!

Well, I've recently had to reinstall IL-2 1946 because a mod ruined the startup (won't say which one) so I've been given time to think about it.

So, right now it is in the planning stage.

Here's the way it's looking:

You are a Vichy French pilot in West Africa (don't fret, this has something to do with being a prisoner of the Rising Sun), dogfighting the British when you request to be sent to Indochina. Your request is granted, and you are in Indochina when, in August 1940, the Japanese invade! The Empire of the Rising Sun will take Indochina and the Vichy French Air Force is evacuated to the Americans in the Philippines, where you fight until the fighting there ends on Corregidor. However that's not all! Even then, the French are evacuated not to Australia, but to Singapore, where you fight the Japanese until July 1944 - after being shot down and becoming a prisoner of war. You then realize that you were not the only one who fought the war, as you hear stories from other sides of the war!

Again, preview coming out soon, and a mission for the community on Christmas/Hannukah....

Hey the OJ map wasn't by me, it was by Fabianfred!

He let me use a Copy of his OJ map and I spent about a Month or two setting it up for the Korean War.

Never got to enjoy it though it had Map_F, and Map_C issues.

You know, it's unfortunate - I was thinking, and I find many things wrong with the POW idea that just won't work with IL2.

First of all, while I could do little missions that you don't really fly, you just read the "briefing" about being a POW and the fellow POW you're talking to, I just don't think it's appropriate for IL2. There's a Hellhawks campaign being made, Bigin Hill campaigns being played by IL2 players all over the world, and then theirs a POW campaign where you just read the mission briefing, click play, then leave it all over again. BORING! Right?

So, as I did with the Alien campaign, I'm just not gonna do it. Plus, my IL2 version is back up - I'm still recovering from it. Building up on campaigns Big Grin

Instead, I'll start a topic when I'm actually done with a preview for a campaign I really honestly feel like doing. Really sorry, AAA and M4T community (if there are M4T people besides me here  )

CAMPAIGN REOPENED!

With the new release of the B-29 Alley map (and my return from vacation) I have decided I will continue working on a Prisoners of War campaign. This will not be three parts anymore, however - just one big, big 110-campaign mission.

The requirements are:

*Canon's Battle of Britain beta map
*B-29 Alley (downloads without a problem, kudos)
*The OJSK map (standing for Okinawa, Japan, South Korea) map
*The Unified Installer 1.0, of course
*The Philippines map

Now, if someone could pm me, email me, or tell me over the forums how to post screenshots and how to take them, I will post screenies soon.

Thanks AAA! Sorry I mislead you!
